Shopify App Store Scraper: Apps, Category Rankings & Reviews
Scrape the Shopify App Store (apps.shopify.com) into clean JSON, CSV or Excel. Pull app details (name, developer, rating, review count, pricing plans, categories, launch date), category rankings (organic position, sponsored ads excluded), and merchant reviews (stars, date, text, store name, country, time using the app, developer reply). The incremental "only newer than" mode makes it cheap to monitor apps on a schedule.
What can this Shopify App Store scraper do?
- 🏆 Track category rankings. Give it any category URL and get the top N apps with their organic rank. Sponsored cards are filtered out.
- 📦 Scrape app profiles. Developer, rating, total reviews, every pricing plan, free-plan flag, categories and launch date.
- ⭐ Scrape reviews. Newest first, with rating, date, text, store name as shown, country, usage time and developer reply.
- 🔁 Incremental monitoring. Set
reviewsNewerThan. The run stops at the first older review, so you only pay for new reviews. - 🔎 Keyword discovery. Search terms are matched against Shopify's public app sitemap.
- 🤝 Polite and compliant. Obeys robots.txt and limits request rate. No logins and no proxies needed. Emails and phone numbers are stripped from text.
Use cases
Competitor monitoring for Shopify app developers, churn and complaint mining, app-idea validation, agency and investor portfolio tracking, and feeding fresh app-market data into AI agents and dashboards.
How much does it cost?
Pay per result, with no subscription and no start fee:
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| App scraped | $0.002 (= $2 per 1,000 apps) |
| Review scraped | $0.0002 (= $0.20 per 1,000 reviews) |
Example: ranking the top 50 apps in a category plus 20 new reviews each comes to 50 × $0.002 + 1,000 × $0.0002 = $0.30. Set a max charge in the run options and the scraper stops cleanly at that limit.

FAQ
Is scraping the Shopify App Store legal? The scraper collects only publicly visible listing data, obeys robots.txt, and never logs in. Reviews show the store name exactly as Shopify publishes it. Emails and phone numbers in text are removed. Use the data in line with Shopify's terms and the laws that apply to you.
Why aren't search terms run through Shopify's search page? robots.txt disallows search URLs (q=), so we match terms against the public sitemap instead.
Some reviews have empty text? Those are star-only reviews. Shopify shows no text for them.
