The scraper visits each contractor's detail page to extract businessName and status, which are not available in search results alone. This gives you complete, verified records — not partial data.

Important notes

Business name search behavior

The Business Name input searches the OCILB's registered contact/DBA field in the lookup form — not the employer company name scraped from the detail page. For example, searching businessName: "Electric" returns Training Agency organizations whose registered name contains "Electric," not individual electricians. To find contractors by employer, use License Types combined with City or Zip Code instead.

Training Agency (TA) records

For TA-type licenses, the licensee is the organization itself. The businessName field will be empty because there is no separate employer — the organization name appears in the name field.

Detail page extraction

businessName and status require fetching each contractor's individual detail page. This makes the scraper slower (~1–2 seconds per record) but ensures every record is complete and verified.

Data source

All data is scraped from the Ohio OCILB public license lookup, a publicly accessible government database. No login or authentication is required. Data is collected in real-time on every run, so you always get the most current licensing information.
