Is My Bank Safe? US Bank Health Check (FDIC Data)
Give US bank names or FDIC CERT numbers. Reads the keyless official FDIC data into a health brief: capital adequacy (risk-based capital ratio), profitability (ROA/ROE), deposit trend (outflow/stress signal) and a health band with findings. Signals, not advice. Read-only, agent-callable.

US Bank Health Check — FDIC Capital, Deposits & Risk
Check how sound a US bank is — from the regulator's own data. Give bank names (or FDIC CERT numbers) and each gets a health brief built from the keyless official FDIC call-report data: capital adequacy (risk-based capital ratio vs the well-capitalized line), profitability (ROA/ROE), size, and the deposit trend quarter-over-quarter — the classic stress/run signal — rolled into a health score, band and findings. Read-only, keyless, agent-callable.
For depositors and treasurers checking where their money sits, counterparty/vendor due diligence, journalists, and AI agents doing bank DD.
Official FDIC regulatory data presented as signals to review — not a prediction that a bank will fail and not financial or deposit advice. US FDIC-insured institutions only.
What it does
- Resolves the bank (by name or FDIC CERT) and pulls its recent quarterly call reports.
- Computes and classifies:
- Capital adequacy — total risk-based capital ratio vs the 10% well-capitalized / 8% adequately-capitalized regulatory lines, plus equity/assets leverage.
- Profitability — ROA, ROE, net income.
- Deposit trend — change QoQ and YoY; a sustained deposit outflow is the signal that preceded recent bank failures.
- Rolls it into a health score (0–100) and band:
healthy/watch/weak/distressed, with findings.

Why not just ask an AI agent?
An agent can recite that a bank exists. It can't pull the latest FDIC call reports, compute the capital ratio against the regulatory line, and measure deposit flight across quarters — consistently, for a batch of banks. That regulator-grade computation is the value here.
Input
| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
banks | array of strings | ✅ | US bank names or FDIC CERT numbers. |
webhookUrl | string | POST the briefs here as JSON. |
Example input
{ "banks": ["JPMorgan Chase", "Bank of America"] }
Output
One record per bank. Example (real FDIC data, trimmed):
{"bankName": "JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association","cert": 628,"healthBand": "healthy","healthScore": 100,"assetsBillion": 4091.315,"depositsBillion": 2820.284,"totalCapitalRatioPct": 16.21,"equityToAssetsPct": 8.35,"roaPct": 1.585, "roePct": 18.55,"depositChangeQoQPct": 1.16, "depositChangeYoYPct": 5.66,"findings": [{"severity": "ok", "detail": "Well-capitalized: total capital ratio 16.2% (>=10%)."},{"severity": "ok", "detail": "Profitable: ROA 1.58%, ROE 18.6%."}]}
A stressed bank surfaces weak/distressed with findings like a sub-10% capital ratio, a net loss, or a double-digit deposit outflow.
Use cases
- Where's my money? — check your own bank's capital and deposit trend.
- Counterparty DD — vet a bank before a deposit, loan participation or vendor relationship.
- Watchlist — batch-check a set of regional banks each quarter.
- AI agents — a structured bank-soundness brief to gate a decision.

FAQ
Where does the data come from? The FDIC BankFind Suite API — the US regulator's official call-report data. Keyless.
Which banks? US FDIC-insured institutions. Pass the name or the FDIC CERT number (CERT is exact).
Does "distressed" mean it's failing? No. It means several regulatory metrics are weak — a signal to look closer, not a prediction or advice. Your deposits up to the FDIC limit are insured regardless.
What's the deposit-trend signal? A sharp drop in deposits (a "run") can precede trouble; the brief reports QoQ and YoY change so you see it.
How current is it? As current as the latest quarterly call report the FDIC has published.
How fast / how much? A few seconds. Pay-per-event, one charge per bank checked.
