Exports a Shopify store's full public catalog — products, variants, prices, compare-at prices, SKUs, stock status, images, descriptions, options and weights — as clean dataset rows you can pipe into a spreadsheet, a database, or another tool. It reads only products.json, the catalog that every Shopify storefront publishes to everyone, and returns what is on the shelf right now.

This is a catalog exporter, not a change monitor: every run returns the whole (filtered) catalog. If you want "tell me what changed since last time" instead, use our Shopify Price & Stock Change Tracker.

Use cases

  • Competitor catalog pulls — prices, variants and stock for market research, repricing or analysis.
  • Spreadsheet and BI feeds — connect the dataset to Google Sheets, Excel, or any Apify integration.
  • Collection-scoped exports — set collection to export one collection only.
  • Keyword-targeted exports — set keywords to export only products whose title, type or tags match.

Input

{
"storeUrls": ["https://www.allbirds.com"],
"maxProductsPerStore": 100,
"includeVariants": true,
"collection": "",
"keywords": []
}
  • storeUrls (required): store base URLs, e.g. https://www.allbirds.com. Paths are ignored.
  • maxProductsPerStore (default 5,000, maximum 50,000): the most products read per store per run (250 per request). Stores with more products are marked truncated in their store row.
  • includeVariants (default true): one row per variant with price, SKU, stock, options and weight — or set false for one row per product with a price_min/price_max range.
  • collection (optional): a collection handle to export only that collection — for https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens, use mens.
  • keywords (optional): only export products whose title, product_type, or tags contain every keyword (case-insensitive substring match). Filtered-out products are not charged.

Output

Three kinds of rows:

  • type: "variant" — one per variant: store, product_id, handle, title, vendor, product_type, tags, created_at, updated_at, published_at, url, image (all image URLs), body_text (description, HTML stripped, capped at 5,000 characters), variant_id, variant_title, sku, price, compare_at_price, available, option1/2/3, grams, requires_shipping.
  • type: "product" — one per product (with includeVariants: false): the same product fields plus price_min, price_max, any_available.
  • type: "store" — one free status row per store: status (ok, not_shopify, blocked, error), products_found, truncated, and any error detail. Every run leaves at least one row, even when every store fails.

The run summary is saved to the default key-value store as OUTPUT, including a stopped_reason ("max_total_charge" when the run's maximum charge stopped it early).

Sample output

From a live run against https://www.allbirds.com (includeVariants: true, maxProductsPerStore: 100):

{
"type": "variant",
"store": "www.allbirds.com",
"product_id": "7340901859408",
"handle": "womens-allbirds-flip-flop-dusty-pink",
"title": "Women's Allbirds Flip Flop",
"vendor": "Allbirds",
"product_type": "Shoes",
"tags": ["allbirds::material => sugar", "allbirds::gender => womens", "…"],
"created_at": "2026-04-30T15:53:21-04:00",
"updated_at": "2026-09-25T17:39:32-04:00",
"published_at": "2026-04-30T15:53:21-04:00",
"url": "https://www.allbirds.com/products/womens-allbirds-flip-flop-dusty-pink",
"image": ["https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/…/files/dusty-pink-1.png", "…"],
"body_text": "Our Sugar Zeffers are back…",
"variant_id": "42146889039952",
"variant_title": "5",
"sku": "A12513W050",
"price": 25,
"compare_at_price": 50,
"available": false,
"option1": "5",
"option2": null,
"option3": null,
"grams": 455,
"requires_shipping": true
}

And the free store row that closes every store's run:

{
"type": "store",
"store": "www.allbirds.com",
"status": "ok",
"products_found": 100,
"products_exported": 100,
"variants_exported": 1263,
"truncated": true,
"truncation_reason": "max_products",
"collection": null,
"error_code": null,
"error_message": null,
"note": "Stopped at maxProductsPerStore (100).",
"run_at": "2026-09-29T20:41:12.489Z"
}

Prices are numbers in the store's own currency. products.json does not say which currency that is, so the Actor does not guess.

What it costs

$1 per 1,000 products exported ($0.001 per product). You pay only for products exported.

  • A product is charged once, however many variants it has. Variants are never charged extra.
  • Products filtered out by keywords are not charged. Skipped and failed stores are not charged.
  • Store status rows are free.
  • Set a maximum cost per run in Apify and the Actor respects it: it stops fetching when the budget is used up, keeps what it already exported, marks the affected stores truncated, and records stopped_reason: "max_total_charge" in the OUTPUT summary. It never charges past your limit.

Worked examples:

  • 1 store, 1,000 products, all variants: 1,000 × $0.001 = $1.00 per run.
  • Full 5,000-product catalog, product rows only: 5,000 × $0.001 = $5.00 per run.

Limits — the honest list

  • Public products.json only. The Actor reads the catalog Shopify storefronts publish to every visitor. It never logs in, never touches cart or checkout, and collects no personal data.
  • Some stores disable or block products.json. HTTP 403/401 or a hidden catalog is reported as a store row with status: "blocked"; a site that is not Shopify at all reports not_shopify. There is no workaround in this Actor, by design.
  • Only products published to the Online Store appear in products.json. Hidden, draft, or channel-only products are not visible.
  • No sales numbers. Public catalogs carry no sales, revenue, or inventory-quantity data. Only in stock / out of stock is available.
  • Currency is whatever the store's default is and is not included in the response.
  • It is polite, which makes it slower on big catalogs. One request at a time per store, at least 1 second apart, honoring HTTP 429 Retry-After. Up to three stores run in parallel.
  • Descriptions are capped at 5,000 characters of HTML-stripped text (body_text). The original body_html is not returned.

FAQ

Is this allowed? The Actor reads the same public JSON catalog that Shopify serves to every visitor, at about one request per second, and identifies itself in its User-Agent. You are responsible for your own use of the data and for respecting each store's terms.

Why did I get fewer products than the store actually has? Check the store row: truncated: true with truncation_reason: "max_products" means maxProductsPerStore cut the run short — raise it. status: "blocked" or "not_shopify" means the store's public catalog could not be read at all.

Does it support collections or filters? Yes: collection for one collection handle, keywords for title/type/tag matching. Filtered-out products are not charged.

What currency are the prices in? The store's own default currency, exactly as products.json reports the number. The response does not say which currency it is.

Do you charge per variant? No. One charge per product exported, whatever its variant count.

Can it get sales or inventory counts? No. That data is not in a Shopify store's public catalog.
