Hey Clockworks,

Firstly, thank you for creating an amazing slew of Actors.

I’d like to briefly state that, recently, I’ve been considering creating my own Scrapers, so I could limitlessly scale up to my projected usage of >10M scrapes monthly (at minimal cost). But, I was planning on waiting to see how far down Apify would negotiate their CU pricing.

However, after noticing your imminent price restructuring, I’ve realized 2 things:

  1. There’s no longer any way to negotiate for CU cost with Apify, since you’re pricing per result.
  2. Your pricing would effectively make a run that just cost me $12 (for 316k results) cost $950.

I know you’ve had a lot of luck with your current $100k+ MRR in subscriptions, but respectfully, I would ask that you consider revisiting this notion of restructuring altogether, or at least let me know if individualized accommodations can be made.

In any case, I have millions of dollars worth of demand incoming (due to a disruptive, unprecedented use-case, that wasn’t possible until recent SoTA AI models were released).. and I’ll take my business elsewhere (creating my own scrapers) if your 10/10 Actors get stifled by greed.

  • For context, I’ve produced >100k lines of code in the last 30 days. I have no difficulty creating any software or architecture I want. I’d just prefer to not invest 20-40 hours of my precious time into rebuilding the wheel.. when I could focus on solo-engineering this 200k LoC project I’m currently working on.
