OSHA Workplace Safety Profiler
Build comprehensive workplace safety profiles using official OSHA inspection data from the U.S. Department of Labor Enforcement API. This actor searches the DOL enforcement database and returns structured inspection records including violations, penalties, accident indicators, and worker exposure data.
What data does this actor extract?
For each OSHA inspection record, the actor provides:
- Activity Number -- unique OSHA inspection identifier
- Establishment Name -- name of the inspected workplace
- Location -- city and state of the inspection site
- Inspection Dates -- open date and case close date
- Accident Indicator -- whether the inspection was triggered by an accident
- Violation Type -- classification (Serious, Willful, Repeat, Other)
- Penalties -- both initial and current penalty amounts in USD
- Workers Exposed -- number of workers exposed to the cited hazard
- Direct URL -- link to the full OSHA inspection detail page
Use cases
Insurance Underwriting & Risk Assessment: Insurance carriers and brokers can use OSHA inspection histories to evaluate workplace safety risk before writing or renewing workers' compensation and general liability policies. A company with repeated Serious violations or high penalty amounts represents elevated loss exposure, enabling more accurate premium pricing and risk selection.
Mergers & Acquisitions Due Diligence: During M&A transactions, acquirers need to understand the target company's regulatory compliance posture. OSHA violation histories reveal potential liabilities, pending penalties, and systemic safety culture issues that can affect deal valuation and post-close integration costs.
ESG and Compliance Analysis: Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) analysts can incorporate OSHA data into their social risk scoring frameworks. Tracking violation frequency, severity, and penalty trends over time provides quantitative evidence of a company's commitment to worker health and safety.
Workplace Safety Compliance Monitoring: Safety directors and compliance teams can proactively monitor their own organization's OSHA inspection history, benchmark against industry peers, and identify recurring violation patterns that need corrective action before they escalate into costly citations or accidents.
Supply Chain Risk Management: Procurement and supply chain teams can screen suppliers and contractors for workplace safety compliance, identifying partners with high violation rates that could create reputational risk or supply disruption from regulatory shutdowns.
