Apify Actor that fetches the official SEC company ticker map and pushes one dataset row per matching company (CIK, ticker, name, exchange when available).

Primary source:

https://www.sec.gov/files/company_tickers_exchange.json

Fallback if that URL 404s:

https://www.sec.gov/files/company_tickers.json (no exchange field)

Distinct from the other nine SEC EDGAR Actors in this catalog:

  • SEC EDGAR Recent Filings (per-company submissions JSON)
  • SEC EDGAR Company Facts (XBRL companyfacts)
  • SEC EDGAR Insider Transactions (Form 4)
  • SEC EDGAR 13F Holdings
  • SEC EDGAR XBRL Frames
  • SEC EDGAR Current Filings (getcurrent Atom)
  • SEC EDGAR Full-Text Search (EFTS)
  • SEC EDGAR Daily Index (daily/quarterly master.idx)
  • SEC EDGAR Filing Documents (Archives filing document index by accession)

This Actor is only the official company↔ticker (±exchange) map — not filings, indexes, EFTS, or XBRL facts/frames.

Legal public data only. No Playwright. Limited-permission Actor. Standby is off.

Input

All optional. Empty input returns the first maxResults rows of the full map.

  • ticker (string): exact match, case-insensitive
  • cik (string): exact CIK match (digits / padding normalized)
  • nameContains (string): case-insensitive substring on company title/name
  • exchange (string): case-insensitive exact or contains on exchange (when exchange map available)
  • maxResults (integer, default 50, max 500)

Output

One dataset item per match: cik (10-digit padded), ticker, companyName, exchange (null if unavailable), sourceUrl.

SEC User-Agent

SEC fair-access rules require a User-Agent with a contact. This Actor reads SEC_USER_AGENT and defaults to sec-edgar-company-tickers (dostrovsky@gmail.com).
