I have a question about the variable Ad Targeting / Regions / Impressions you provide in the Actor called TikTok Ads Library FAST. In my Run ID: uYYBHMoMNW0eNNyEZ I have for example the Ad ID: 1826583847580689 In the Ad Targeting element of the result for this Ad ID, you provide the following object: { "regions": [ { "region": "CZ", "impressions": "346K" } ], "age": [ { "region": "CZ", "13-17": false, "18-24": true, "25-34": false, "35-44": false, "45-54": false, "55+": false } ], "gender": [ { "region": "CZ", "female": true, "male": true, "unknown": true } ] }

as you can see, under the country CZ you provide 346K of impressions

I have two questions to this:

  1. are these really impressions, or is it a reach? There is a significant difference between these two metrics: Reach is unique, each person is counted only once. Impressions are cummulative = if one person sees the ad twice, its reach = 1 and Impressions = 2. I am asking because nowhere in the TikTok Ad Library I can see Impressions. There are only Reach metrics everywhere.
  2. even if its the reach, where did you take the number from? .. At the Ads Transparency of the ad here: https://library.tiktok.com/ads/detail/?ad_id=1826583847580689 the value of reach for country CZ of this ad is 367K (bottom table) and not 346K that is in your response. And those cannot be impressions, as impressions are always higher than reach.

This number is different accros many Ads so the example above is not an exception.

Could you please check this and provide me with answers? I built a functionality with your amazing tool, but this is very weird and I need to know how to handle it.

Thank you very much and have a lovely day

Jan

Hi Jan! Thank you for your message, we'll look into it tomorrow, I'll get back to you!

Hi Jan, I'm getting back to you regarding your message. We were able to look into:

  • The difference between the "346K" that you retrieved with our scraper, and the "367K" displayed by TikTok may be due to a data refresh on their end. We ran another scraping on our side and we're now getting the 367K as well.
  • Regarding the type (impressions? reach), if we look at what TikTok's internal API provides, we have this: location: {total_region: 1, total_impressions: "300K-400K", data: [{region: "CZ", impressions: "367K"}]} data: [{region: "CZ", impressions: "367K"}] total_impressions: "300K-400K" total_region: 1 => So they are indeed referring to "Impressions"
