Export public Craigslist listings by city, category, keyword, filters or URL. Craigslist Classifieds Scraper saves listing URLs, titles, available prices and images, with optional descriptions and other public details for housing scans and local-market research.

Quick start

Paste a public Craigslist search URL and start with a small limit:

{
"startUrls": [{"url": "https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=desk"}],
"maxItems": 10,
"includeDetails": false
}

Download the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON. Fields depend on what Craigslist exposes. The requested limit is not a guaranteed result count.

Prefer a video guide? This short Apify walkthrough shows you how to set up and run an Actor. It uses a different Actor, but the setup steps are the same.

Ready-to-run examples

Choose a public example to see its settings before starting a run:

What you get

One row per saved public listing, with its source URL and available title, price, location and listing identifiers. Detail mode can add descriptions, images, timestamps, attributes and map fields. Per-listing status and quality warnings show where enrichment or source fields are missing. Contacts are limited to details explicitly written in the public listing body, without revealing private relay addresses.

Who is it for?

  • Local resale researchers comparing displayed asking prices within a city and category.
  • Housing researchers preparing a bounded apartment shortlist for manual review.
  • Community organizers reviewing public garage-sale listings in a chosen area.
  • Data teams feeding public listing records into their own spreadsheets, dashboards or comparison workflows.

How you can use the data

  • Prepare a Bay Area desk-price sheet. Search sfbay, category sss, for desk with a small result cap. Keep title, price, currency, url and scrapedAt together. These are asking-price observations, not completed-sale prices.
  • Review an Austin apartment sample. Choose austin and category apa with your price limits. Enable detail pages when descriptions or category attributes matter, then inspect missing address and map fields before using the sheet.
  • Find today's Seattle garage-sale posts. Choose seattle, category gms and today's-posts filter. Save source links and posted timestamps where available so you can review each public listing yourself.
  • Compare your own dated exports. Match listing URLs between separate datasets to review changes in your spreadsheet or dashboard. Alerts and comparisons belong to your downstream workflow. A missing listing in a later export does not by itself establish deletion.

Download your results

Open your run's dataset, choose Export and select JSON, CSV or Excel. JSON keeps nested fields together. CSV and Excel are useful when you want to review the records in a spreadsheet.

See Apify's download and export guide for the available formats and field options.

Pricing

Pay-per-event pricing uses a one-time start charge after input and connection setup, plus an item charge for each saved listing. Saved listings with missing detail fields still count as items. Run summaries and errors are not separate paid dataset rows, and the start charge can apply even when no listings are saved.

Platform compute, storage, transfer or proxy usage may also apply. Keep maxItems small and enable detail pages only when needed. See the Pricing tab for current rates and discounts.

Tips for best results

  • Keep tuned search URLs intact. Paste a public search URL into startUrls when you already selected filters in a browser.
  • Use city, category and query for repeatable searches. Keep these settings with each dataset so later exports are comparable.
  • Open details only when richer fields matter. Detail requests make runs slower, and individual enrichment failures remain visible on the row.
  • Read quality and outcome diagnostics before retrying. Check per-listing warnings and RUN_SUMMARY to distinguish partial output, valid-empty searches and failures.
  • Treat reply controls separately from contacts. A detected reply button does not reveal an email address or phone number.

Limits and caveats

  • Public pages only: The Actor does not log in and does not bypass private contact protections.
  • Reply button is not contact data: sellerContactAvailable only reports whether a public reply control was detected.
  • Some categories have sparse fields: Price, map, timestamps, image, and attribute fields depend on the listing and category.
  • Craigslist can block or throttle traffic: Use modest limits and proxy settings when needed.
  • Deleted listings: A direct URL that returns HTTP 404 or 410 fails clearly. It is never silently emitted as a current listing.
  • Run diagnostics: RUN_SUMMARY distinguishes successful, partial, valid-empty, and failed outcomes and records bounded source/detail errors.

Automation and integrations

Save your settings for next time

Once you have an input that works for you, save it as an Apify task. This keeps your settings together so you can use them again without filling in the form from scratch.

Run on a schedule

Need fresh results regularly? You can schedule the Actor or a saved task to run at a time that suits you.

Each scheduled run collects the data again. If you want to compare results or highlight changes, add that step in your own workflow.

Send results to your other tools

Use n8n, Make or Zapier to connect this scraper to the rest of your workflow. For example, you could pass its results to an AI assistant or add records to a spreadsheet. Follow the Apify integration guides for your chosen tool.

For a custom connection, an Apify webhook can notify your app when a run finishes or fails. Your app can then fetch the results or handle the failure.

API usage

Want to collect this data from your own app or automation? The examples below send input to the scraper and show how to collect its results.

The Node.js and Python examples wait for the run to finish before reading its results. The cURL example starts the run and returns its details. Wait for that run to finish, then use its defaultDatasetId to fetch the results.

For setup instructions, see Apify's JavaScript client guide, Python client guide and Actor runs API reference.

}
],
"maxItems": 10,

const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);

Python

MCP and AI agents

You can ask your AI assistant to collect data with Craigslist Classifieds Scraper and help you work with the results. The scraper returns the data, and your assistant can then summarize it, compare records or prepare notes.

Connect your assistant through the Apify MCP server. MCP gives your assistant a way to find this scraper, run it and read the results. Follow the official setup and sign-in guide for your app.

Easier setup with an Apify plugin

If you use a supported coding assistant, the official Apify plugin can set up the connection for you. It connects your assistant to Apify and includes instructions for common tasks. Follow the guide for your particular app.

Use Apify AI in Console

Prefer to keep everything in Apify? Open Apify AI in Console and ask it to find Fetch Cat's Craigslist Classifieds Scraper. You can describe the data you want and ask questions about the results.

Apify AI is currently in beta. It asks for confirmation before starting an Actor, and normal run charges apply.

Choose your assistant

Connect just this scraper

To keep your setup focused on this scraper, add this server configuration to a compatible MCP client:

{
"mcpServers": {
"apify": {
"url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=fetch_cat/craigslist-classifieds-scraper"
}
}
}

Sign in to Apify when your client asks. If your client uses a Bearer token instead, follow its setup guide and keep the token in its secure configuration. Configuration formats vary by app, so use the linked guide if your client needs a different format.

Use Apify's general server

Already connected to the general Apify MCP server at https://mcp.apify.com? You can use it to find this scraper without adding another server. Ask your assistant to use Craigslist Classifieds Scraper by Fetch Cat, or give it the identifier fetch_cat/craigslist-classifieds-scraper.

Your assistant can check the available settings and retrieve the results from the returned run. If the run is still working, it should follow that run rather than start it again. Both connection options use Apify's hosted service.

Example requests

  • “Use Fetch Cat’s Craigslist Classifieds Scraper to collect up to 5 desk listings in the San Francisco Bay Area for-sale category. Show titles, displayed prices with currency and listing URLs for an asking-price comparison.”
  • “Collect at most 5 Austin apartment listings priced between 1000 and 2000, opening their public detail pages. Show available descriptions, locations and source links, marking missing address fields.”
  • “Retrieve up to 5 Seattle garage-sale posts from today. Keep listing URLs and available posted timestamps, then explain any partial or empty outcome before I compare the export with my own spreadsheet.”

Normal Apify charges apply. Check the live Pricing tab before asking your assistant to run a larger batch.

Pay with x402

If your AI agent has a funded wallet, it can pay for Apify usage through x402. This experimental option lets an agent use Apify without a conventional account.

Apify AGI provides a prepaid API token with a spending cap after payment. Your agent can use that token to run this scraper through the Apify API or an authenticated MCP connection.

Some MCP setups also support paying for each request directly. That is a different payment option, so check the official guide for its availability.

Follow the official guide for wallet setup, supported payment options and current terms. Apify handles the payments. Keep wallet keys and payment tokens in your agent's secure configuration.

Other ways for agents to pay

Apify also supports MPP for prepaid access through AGI and Skyfire for eligible Actors. If your agent already uses one of these, see the agentic payment guide to choose the right setup.

FAQ

Can I use any Craigslist city?

Use the public Craigslist city subdomain, such as sfbay, austin, seattle, or newyork.

Does the Actor open every listing page?

For search results, only when includeDetails is enabled. A direct listing URL is always opened. Search-only mode returns fewer detail fields.

Can I export to CSV, Excel, JSON, or API?

Yes. Apify datasets can be downloaded as CSV, Excel, JSON, JSONL, XML, RSS, or accessed through the API.

Can it scrape seller emails or phone numbers?

Only when the poster explicitly wrote them in the public listing body. The Actor does not reveal private Craigslist relay addresses or bypass reply protections.

Why did I get fewer listings than requested?

Craigslist may return fewer public results for the search, remove old posts, throttle a request, or hide detail fields.

  • Facebook Pages Scraper — Collect public Facebook Page profiles, available contact fields and visible audience counts for local business research.
  • Website Contact Finder — Collect publicly listed emails, phone numbers and social links from supplied business websites, with source-page evidence.
  • Google Autocomplete Scraper — Collect ordered Google autocomplete suggestions from seed phrases for research into how people search for local products or services.
  • Google News Scraper — add local-market news context.
  • Facebook Marketplace Scraper — research another classifieds marketplace.
