Datamuse Word Finder — Rhymes, Synonyms & Related Words (Free)

Free Apify actor. Find synonyms, rhymes, sound-alikes, antonyms and semantically related/associated words for any seed word, powered by the Datamuse API. A fast, no-key word engine for SEO keyword expansion, copywriting, poetry and word games.

What it does

For each seed word and a chosen relation type, it returns ranked related words with a relevance score, syllable count and part-of-speech tags — one row per word, ready for spreadsheets or keyword pipelines.

Input

FieldTypeDescription
wordsarraySeed words (one lookup per word).
relationstringmeans_like, synonyms, rhymes, near_rhymes, sounds_like, spelled_like, triggers, antonyms, followers, predecessors.
maxResultsintegerWords per seed (1-1000, default 20).

Output (one item per word)

{
"seed": "ocean",
"relation": "means_like",
"status": "found",
"word": "sea",
"score": 40041792,
"num_syllables": 1,
"tags": ["syn", "n"]
}

Every input yields at least one item, with status: found, not_found, or error.

Use cases

  • Expand SEO keyword lists with synonyms and associated terms.
  • Find rhymes and near-rhymes for songwriting and poetry.
  • Generate word lists for games, education and NLP.
  • Discover semantically related words for content briefs.

Limitations & fair use

Data comes from the free public Datamuse API; please keep volumes reasonable. Scores are relative relevance weights, not absolute frequencies.
