OpenAQ Air Quality Tracker

Collect real-time and historical air quality measurements from 30,000+ monitoring stations worldwide using the OpenAQ API v3. Track PM2.5, PM10, NO2, O3, CO, and SO2 across any country — with built-in AQI category labels.

Two data sources:

  • Without a key (default): OpenAQ v3 now requires an API key, so keyless runs return modelled current or hourly concentrations (Copernicus CAMS via the Open-Meteo Air Quality API) for the major cities of 35 countries (US, KR, DE, GB, FR, JP, CN, IN, …). These are model estimates on an ~11–40 km grid, not station readings. source = Open-Meteo (CAMS model); units are µg/m³ for every pollutant.
  • With a free OpenAQ key: station-level measurements from OpenAQ's 30,000+ monitoring stations. source = OpenAQ.

What it does

ModeDescription
latestMost recent measurement per station per pollutant
historicalAll measurements in a user-specified date range
locationsStation metadata only (coordinates, city, country)

Each output record includes location name, city, country, GPS coordinates, pollutant name, value, unit, AQI category (for PM2.5), and timestamp.
