Extract every page URL from any website's XML sitemap — fast, cheap, no browser.

Give it a domain (e.g. example.com) or a direct sitemap URL. The Actor:

  • Auto-discovers sitemaps from robots.txt (Sitemap: lines), falling back to /sitemap.xml, /sitemap_index.xml
  • Recursively follows sitemap index files
  • Handles gzipped (.xml.gz) and plain-text sitemaps
  • De-duplicates URLs and optionally filters them with a regex (e.g. only /blog/)
  • Outputs url, lastmod, changefreq, priority, and the source sitemap

Use cases

SEO audits, content inventories, migration checklists, feeding URL lists to crawlers or RAG/LLM pipelines, monitoring newly published pages via lastmod.

Input

FieldTypeDefaultDescription
startUrlsstring[]—Domains, homepages, or sitemap URLs (required)
maxUrlsinteger1000Total URL cap across all inputs
maxSitemapsinteger200Max sitemap files followed per domain
urlFilterstring—JavaScript regex; only matching URLs are output
includeMetadatabooleantrueInclude lastmod/changefreq/priority/sitemap
{ "startUrls": ["docs.apify.com"], "maxUrls": 500, "urlFilter": "/platform/" }

Output (one row per URL)

{ "url": "https://docs.apify.com/api", "lastmod": null, "changefreq": "weekly", "priority": 0.5, "sitemap": "https://docs.apify.com/sitemap_base.xml" }

Export as JSON, CSV, Excel, or via API.

Pricing

Pay per result: you pay a small fee per URL in the dataset. Set maxUrls to cap your spend.

Notes

Only reads publicly published sitemaps and robots.txt — files websites provide specifically for automated discovery. No login, no page content scraping.
