How does Apify ideas work?
Do you have an idea for an Actor or wondering what to build? Follow this step-by-step guide on submitting, building, and claiming an idea!
Idea submission
User has an idea for an Actor and submits it through our Ideas form. The submission should clearly state the input and output of the desired tool.
Publishing to the ideas page
Our marketing team processes the idea within 30 days and adds it to the page. The default idea status is then set to Open to develop.
Community upvotes
Anyone that likes the idea can upvote it, raising its position higher up, so a developer is more likely to notice it.
Idea is chosen by a developer
Developer decides to build an idea - there is no need to inform anyone about the project until the Actor is live on Apify Store. If it’s your first time building an Actor, check out how to monetize your code on the Apify platform.
Claim as developed
Once development is complete and the tool is live on Apify Store, the developer claims the idea by sending an e-mail to ideas@apify.com. All we need is the URL of the Actor and idea.
Complete tag
We’ll process the request and tag the idea as Completed with a redirect to the new Actor. This backlink will give the developer SEO juice, helping them acquire new users by showing up on Google.
Email us at ideas@apify.com! We try our best to pair newly published Actors with ideas, but it’s possible we might have missed something.
There are a couple of reasons we might not pair an idea with an Actor:
- A non-functional Actor
- Readme is empty or doesn’t contain any relevant information
- Scraper functionality differs significantly from the idea
