Check South Korean license plates against the official flood-damage insurance records and find out whether a car was a flood total loss (์นจ์ˆ˜์ „์†) or had partial flood damage (์นจ์ˆ˜๋ถ„์†) โ€” with the accident date. Data comes from the Financial Services Commission's flood-damaged vehicle check (๊ธˆ์œต์œ„์›ํšŒ ์นจ์ˆ˜์ฐจ๋Ÿ‰์ง„์œ„ํ™•์ธ), compiled by the Korea Insurance Development Institute (๋ณดํ—˜๊ฐœ๋ฐœ์›), and is refreshed daily.

No API key or Korean account needed. Paste plate numbers, get English JSON.

Typical uses

  • Used-car exporters and importers โ€” screen Korean used cars before buying for export (Central Asia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America).
  • Auction buyers, dealers and inspectors โ€” add a flood check to every vehicle report.
  • Marketplaces and lenders โ€” flag flood-damaged cars in listings or before financing.
  • AI agents โ€” "Was the Korean car 12๊ฐ€3456 ever flooded?"

Input

FieldDescription
platesKorean plate numbers, e.g. 12๊ฐ€3456, 123๊ฐ€4567, ์„œ์šธ12๊ฐ€3456. Spaces and hyphens are ignored. Up to 1,000 per run.
{ "plates": ["66์šฐ3717", "12๊ฐ€3456"] }

Output

One item per plate:

}
statusMeaning
flood_record_foundAt least one flood-damage insurance record exists for this plate.
no_recordNo flood insurance claim on file for this plate.
invalid_inputNot a Korean plate format (free).
lookup_failedThe official source did not answer; retry later (free).

damageType: total_loss (insurer paid the car as a total loss due to flooding) or partial_damage (insurer paid for flood repairs).

Important: what "no record" means

The records cover vehicles with an insurance claim for flood damage (own-damage cover). A car that was flooded but uninsured, or repaired without a claim, is not in the data. Records are matched by the current plate number (ํ˜„์žฌ์ฐจ๋Ÿ‰๋ฒˆํ˜ธ) as held by the insurers. Use this as one signal in a vehicle check, not as proof that a car was never flooded.

Pricing

Pay per plate checked: $0.002 per plate (plate-check), whether or not a record is found โ€” a clean result is also an answer. Invalid inputs and failed lookups are free.
