SEC Company Financials: 10-K & 10-Q Fundamentals from XBRL

Get clean, standardized financial statements for any US-listed company — revenue, gross profit, operating income, net income, EPS, total assets, liabilities, equity, cash, debt, operating cash flow, capex, free cash flow and key ratios — for every fiscal year or quarter, straight from the SEC's official XBRL "company facts" API.

Type a ticker (AAPL), a CIK (320193) or a company name (Tesla, Inc.) and get one tidy row per period, ready for a spreadsheet, a screener, a valuation model or an AI agent. No API key, no login, no paid data vendor.

What does SEC Company Financials do?

  • Resolves tickers, CIK numbers and exact company names to SEC filers.
  • Downloads every XBRL fact the company has filed in its 10-K, 10-Q, 20-F and 40-F reports.
  • Maps dozens of possible XBRL tags onto ~30 standard metrics (for example Revenues, RevenueFromContractWithCustomerExcludingAssessedTax and SalesRevenueNet all become revenue), so different companies line up in the same columns.
  • Builds annual rows (fiscal years) and quarterly rows (Q1–Q4).
  • Derives what filings leave out: 10-Qs report cash flows year-to-date, so quarterly cash flows are computed from YTD differences; Q4 is never filed on its own, so Q4 is computed as the fiscal year minus the first nine months. Every derived value is flagged (q4Derived, and conceptsUsed when you turn it on).
  • Adds free cash flow, gross / operating / net margin, current ratio, debt-to-equity and ROE.
  • Optionally adds the company profile: exchange, SIC industry, state of incorporation, fiscal year end, filer category.
  • Facts mode: returns every raw XBRL fact (concept, label, unit, value, period, form, filing date, accession number, frame) for deep or custom analysis.

Who is it for?

  • Investors and analysts building screeners, DCF models or factor backtests.
  • Fintech and AI developers who need a fundamentals feed without a data-vendor contract.
  • Credit, M&A and procurement teams checking a counterparty's revenue, cash and debt trend.
  • Journalists and researchers comparing companies or sectors over time.
  • Students learning financial statement analysis on real numbers.

FAQ

Where does the data come from? Is this legal? From the SEC's own public API at data.sec.gov, which the SEC publishes for free so anyone can use filing data. The actor follows the SEC's fair-access policy: it identifies itself and stays well below the request-rate limit. It does not scrape any website.

How fresh is it? The SEC updates company facts within minutes of a filing being accepted, so a 10-Q filed this morning is available on your next run.

Why is a value different from a finance website? Finance sites often adjust numbers (non-GAAP, TTM, their own taxonomy). This actor returns exactly what the company reported in XBRL. Use valuesAs: firstReported for as-filed numbers or latest to include later restatements.

Why is Q4 marked as derived? Companies file a 10-K for the full year instead of a Q4 10-Q. Q4 is the fiscal year minus the nine-month year-to-date figures. Balance-sheet items for Q4 are the real year-end values.

Does it cover foreign companies? Companies filing 20-F or 40-F with XBRL are included; IFRS filers are read where their tags match. Funds, trusts and many small filers have no XBRL financials and return a clear error row (not charged).

Can I get a metric that is not in the list? Yes: use facts mode with the XBRL concept name (for example InventoryNet or dei:EntityPublicFloat).

Integrations

Schedule it after earnings season, send rows to Google Sheets, Airtable or a database with Apify integrations, trigger it from Make, Zapier or n8n, or call it from Python/JavaScript with the Apify API client. AI agents can call it through the Apify MCP server.
