Search modes

1. By name — firstName + lastName (min 2 characters each), optionally narrowed by occupation, state, zip, or licenseStatus.
2. By license number — exact 10-digit licenseNumber for a single-record verification lookup.

The occupation filter accepts a human name with partial matching ("pharmac" → Pharmacist) or the numeric DHP OccupationId.

The DHP server rejects overly broad searches ("too many records") — provide both names or an occupation filter for common surnames.

Notes

• Registry includes out-of-state residents holding Virginia licenses; the address is the mailing address on file.
• Data window: all current licenses plus licenses expired since 2000-01-01.
• Detail-page enrichment (specialization, licenseStatus, initialLicenseDate) is now behind a reCAPTCHA on the DHP site, so those three fields are only populated when the DHP detail page is accessible; the primary result-page fields above are always returned. Set includeDetails: false to skip detail-page attempts entirely for faster runs.
• The DHP result page has no pagination and scans every occupation, so very common surnames render slowly — combine first + last name and/or an occupation filter for fast, reliable results.
