Reddit Viral Content Tracker — Find What's Going Viral Right Now
No configuration needed. Just run it and get the top trending posts across all of Reddit, ranked by viral score.
Pulls Reddit's hot, rising, and new feeds from r/all, deduplicates across feeds, and ranks every post by a viral score that weights engagement against age. Posts appearing in multiple feeds are flagged — if something is both hot and rising, it's confirmed exploding.
What It Does
Reddit's r/all is a real-time pulse of the entire internet. This actor fetches the feeds you choose (hot, rising, new), deduplicates posts that appear in multiple feeds, and returns a clean ranked list ordered by viral score. Run it once to see what's blowing up right now. Schedule it to track what goes viral over time.
How Viral Score Works
viralScore = (upvotes + comments × 2) / age^0.8
Engagement (upvotes + weighted comments) divided by post age. Younger posts with high engagement score higher than old posts with the same engagement — because going viral fast matters more than having accumulated votes over days.
sortSources field: A post that appears in both the hot and rising feeds is doubly confirmed viral. The sortSources array shows which feeds each post came from — ["hot", "rising"] means it's trending on both.

Getting Started
- Run with defaults — hot + rising feeds, top 100 results
- Optionally exclude subreddits you don't care about (r/politics, r/worldnews, etc.)
- Schedule hourly or daily to track viral trends over time
Use Cases
Content creators Find what formats, topics, and angles are resonating across Reddit right now. If a post type is going viral, replicate it on your platform.
Social media managers Monitor what's trending before it hits Twitter or TikTok. Reddit often breaks trends 12-24 hours before other platforms.
News aggregators Pull the rising feed to catch stories gaining traction before they peak. Use the hot feed for confirmed breakout stories.
Meme and trend tracking
Filter to entertainment subreddits (or exclude news/politics) to track pure meme virality. The flair field helps categorize content types.
Scheduled monitoring Run hourly and compare rankings over time to see which posts sustain momentum vs. which spike and die.
