What does Quora Scraper do?

Quora Scraper collects answers from Quora with their full text, upvotes, views, shares, comment count, date, author name, profile link and credential, plus one row per question with its follower count, answer count and topics. Paste question links, topic links, profile links or answer links, or type keywords to find questions about them. Quora's language sites, such as es.quora.com or de.quora.com, work the same way.

No Quora account, login or cookies are needed. Try it with the prefilled question: open the Actor, click Start, and the question with its first five answers arrives in a few seconds. Because it runs on the Apify platform, you also get API access, scheduled runs, integrations (Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, webhooks), run monitoring and automatic retries through Apify Proxy.

Why scrape Quora?

How to scrape Quora

1. Open a question, topic or profile on Quora and copy the link from the address bar, for example https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-learn-Python-from-a-beginner-level-and-then-move-to-advanced.
2. Paste it into Quora links, one link per line. You can mix questions, topics, profiles and answers in one run.
3. Or type words into Keywords to find questions without having links.
4. Set Max answers per question and, for topics and keywords, Max questions per topic or keyword.
5. Click Start, then download the results when the run finishes.

Field	What it does
startUrls	Quora links. A question gives the question row and its answers. A topic (/topic/…) gives the questions shown on that topic, each with its answers. A profile (/profile/…) gives that person's answers, newest first. An answer link (…/answer/Name) gives that one answer. A Quora search link (/search?q=…) is read as a keyword. Links work with or without https://, and API callers can send {"url": "…"} objects.
searchQueries	Optional keywords. Each one is looked up on Google among Quora questions (Quora's own search needs a login), and the questions found are scraped like question links. Each keyword that finds questions is billed once as a keyword search.
maxAnswersPerQuestion	Answers saved per question, in Quora's order. Default: 20. Set 0 to save only question rows.
maxQuestions	Questions opened per topic link and per keyword, from 1 to 100. Default: 10.
maxAnswersPerProfile	Answers saved per profile link, newest first. Default: 50.
includeRelatedAnswers	Quora mixes answers written for similar questions into a question's answer list. Turn this on to save them too. Default: off.
searchLanguage	Which Quora site keywords are searched on: English (www.quora.com) or one of 23 language sites. Links always keep their own language. Default: English.
proxyConfiguration	Optional; leave it empty. The Actor uses Apify's datacenter proxy and switches to residential addresses only when Quora refuses. Quora's protection refuses roughly half to a fifth of datacenter requests, varying by hour, and each refusal is retried at once from a new address.

Output

Each question and each answer becomes one row; a question's row comes right before its answers. Here is a real question row and one of its answers, with the answer text and topic list shortened:

Data fields

questionId, questionTitle, questionUrl	all	The question; on an answer row, the question the answer was written for.
followers	question	How many people follow the question. Empty (null) when Quora's page layout for that question doesn't include it.
answerCount	question	Quora's canonical answer count for the question. The heading on the page can show a larger number, because it also counts answers merged in from similar questions.
topics	question	The question's topics.
answerId, answerUrl	answer	The answer's id and its permanent link.
text	answer	The full answer as plain text; list items start with - or 1. .
imageUrls	answer	Images in the answer, full size.
authorName, authorUrl	answer	The author and their profile; anonymous answers show Anonymous and no link.
authorCredential	answer	The credential shown next to the author's name, when there is one.
upvotes, views, shares, comments	answer	Engagement numbers as Quora shows them. comments is empty for answer links.
createdAt	answer	When the answer was written, ISO 8601 in UTC.
spaceName, spaceUrl	answer	The Quora Space the answer was posted in, when it was.
isRelatedAnswer	answer	true for an answer Quora showed under the question but wrote for a similar one (only with includeRelatedAnswers).

How much does it cost to scrape Quora?

You pay per row saved, question rows and answer rows alike. Each keyword in searchQueries that finds at least one question is also billed once as a keyword search, which covers the Google result pages used to find the questions; a keyword that finds nothing is not billed. Links that give nothing (a removed question, a typo, a keyword with no results) are never billed: they are listed in the FAILED_INPUTS record of the run's key-value store instead.

As a guide, a run over three topics with 10 questions each and up to 20 answers per question saved about 300 rows in a little over a minute.

Tips for scraping Quora

• Links are faster and cheaper than keywords. A keyword needs Google result pages before any Quora page is opened, and is billed as a keyword search, so paste question or topic links when you have them.
• Partial results are kept. If Quora refuses a later page of answers, the rows already read are saved and the status message says how many inputs stopped early.
• Logged-out visitors see fewer answers. Quora collapses some answers for visitors without an account, so a question can give fewer answers than its answerCount. includeRelatedAnswers does not bring collapsed answers back: it adds answers Quora wrote for similar questions and lists under this one.
• Want only questions? Set maxAnswersPerQuestion to 0 and use topic links or keywords to collect question rows with followers and topics.
• Large jobs: split them over several runs or schedule them, and use the run's maximum cost setting to cap spending; the Actor stops cleanly when the cap is reached.

FAQ, disclaimers and support

Is it legal to scrape Quora? The Actor reads only public pages that anyone can open without an account. Scraping public data is generally lawful, but answers can contain personal data, which laws such as the GDPR protect. Only collect what you have a legitimate reason to process, and check Quora's terms and your local rules for your use case. If in doubt, ask a lawyer.

Why did some of my links give nothing? Open the FAILED_INPUTS record in the run's key-value store: each entry names the link and the reason, such as "Quora says this page does not exist" or "not a Quora link". Questions found through a topic or keyword that could not be read are listed there too.

Can it read private content, comments or my feed? No. It reads what a logged-out visitor sees: questions, answers, topics and public profiles. It does not log in, read comment threads, or solve captchas.
