What does Third-Party Tracker & Google Fonts Scanner do?

Third-Party Tracker & Google Fonts Scanner opens any web page in a real browser from an EU IP address, without clicking the cookie banner, and lists every third-party host the page contacts. Each host is mapped to a vendor, category and headquarters country. The scanner flags:

  • 🔤 Google Fonts loaded from Google's servers, which sends the visitor's IP address to Google
  • 📈 analytics, advertising, session-replay and marketing tools contacted before any consent choice
  • 🍪 third-party cookies set before consent (names and domains only, never values)
  • 🌍 vendors headquartered outside the EU/EEA, so you can check their transfer basis
  • 📄 vendors not mentioned by name in the privacy notice, and whether the notice mentions transfers outside the EEA when non-EU vendors load

It's a fast way to build or check the vendor list for a privacy notice, catch a tag that slipped past the consent manager, or show a client what loads before consent.

Who is it for?

  • 🏢 Web agencies and developers: check every site before launch, after a theme or plugin update, or after adding tags.
  • 🔐 Privacy officers and consultants: get a vendor inventory per page as structured data.
  • 🛒 Webshop owners: see which marketing tools fire before visitors choose.
  • 🤖 AI agents: one URL in, a vendor list and findings out (works through the Apify MCP server).

For a full test of the cookie banner itself (before consent, after "Reject", after "Accept", reject button, pre-ticked boxes, Consent Mode v2), use the GDPR Cookie Consent Verifier. For everything at once, use the EU Website Compliance Audit.

How to scan a website for trackers and Google Fonts

  1. Click Try for free and add one or more page URLs.
  2. Keep the default EU residential proxy (NL), or pick another EU country.
  3. Click Start. Each page takes about 10–20 seconds.
  4. Open the Third-party hosts view, or download report.html.

How much does it cost?

Pay per event: you pay per page scanned (see the Pricing tab). Platform usage, including the EU residential proxy, is included. Pages that fail to load are free.

FAQ

Why an EU IP? Many consent tools and tag managers only hold back trackers for European visitors. Scanning from a US data centre would show trackers that EU visitors never get, or the other way round.

Does a tracker before consent always mean a problem? Not always. Some tools can run in a consent-exempt configuration (for example, strictly necessary or properly anonymised analytics, depending on national rules), and transfers to US vendors can rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (an appeal against it, C-703/25 P, is pending) or standard contractual clauses. The scanner reports what it observes and points to the rules to check. It doesn't make a legal judgment, and a "pass" means nothing was observed, not that the site is compliant.

What about Google Fonts? A German regional court held in 2022 that loading Google Fonts from Google's servers without consent passes visitors' IP addresses to Google without a legal basis. Later rulings curbed mass warning-letter campaigns, and the question is now pending at the CJEU. Self-hosting the fonts avoids the issue.

Does it store personal data? No. It records hostnames, request types and cookie names and domains of the website you enter. It never stores cookie values or anything about real visitors.
