What is Encar API?

Encar API turns any Encar.com car link into clean, ready-to-use data in English. Paste the link of a used car on Encar, South Korea's largest used-car marketplace, and get back its price, mileage, specs, photos, VIN and accident history in one response.

There's no Korean to decode and no scraping to set up. It works like any other web API, and you pay only for cars you actually get back.

What data can you get from Encar?

How to use Encar API

1. Create a free Apify account if you don't have one. No credit card is needed.
2. Open this Actor in Apify Console and go to the Endpoints tab. Your personal API address is shown there.
3. Find a car on Encar.com and copy the link from your browser's address bar.
4. Send the link to the /car endpoint. You can do this right in the Endpoints tab: paste the link into the url field and click Send.
5. Get the car data back as JSON within a few seconds.

You need your API token, which you'll find in Apify Console › Settings › API & Integrations. Keep it private.

You pay $0.01 per car, which is $10 per 1,000 cars. Accident history is included at no extra cost.

• 🆓 Failed requests cost nothing. That covers wrong links, cars that were sold or removed, and times when Encar is unavailable.
• 🎁 You can try it for free. The Apify Free plan includes $5 of usage every month, enough for a few hundred cars.
• 🖥️ Small platform fee while it runs. Because this is an always-on API, Apify also bills platform usage for the time the API is running for you. At the default 256 MB of memory that's about $0.05 per hour of activity on the Free and Starter plans. It shuts down on its own when you stop sending requests.
• 🔒 You stay in control. Set a maximum cost in Apify Console. When it's reached, the API returns status 402 instead of charging more.

The /car endpoint takes one parameter, url: the link to a car on Encar. Both link formats work:

Extra parts of the link, such as ?pageid=..., are fine. If your tool builds the address by hand, URL-encode the Encar link first.

What each field means

Any value Encar leaves empty comes back as null, so your code never has to guess whether a field exists.

Errors

When something goes wrong, you get a short message such as { "error": "Car 1 not found on Encar" } and one of these status codes. None of them are charged.

FAQ

Is it legal to scrape Encar?

Encar API reads only information that Encar shows publicly to every visitor. It doesn't log in or get past any paywall. You're responsible for how you use the data, so check Encar's terms of service and follow the privacy laws that apply to you, such as GDPR or Korea's PIPA. If you're unsure, ask a lawyer.

Does it collect personal data?

As little as possible. Phone numbers, seller account IDs and street addresses are left out on purpose. Only the dealer's business name and city are returned. Encar API doesn't store the cars you look up; the data is sent to you and that's it.

Why is history sometimes null?

Some sellers choose not to publish the insurance record, and Encar doesn't have one for every car. The rest of the car data is still returned, and the price is the same.

Are prices in won or in 10,000 won?

Always full Korean won. 24900000 means ₩24,900,000.

Why are some values still in Korean?

Common values such as fuel, color and transmission are translated. Rare ones are returned in Korean rather than guessed. The seller's description is returned as written.

How fast is it?

Usually one to three seconds per car. The first request after a quiet period can take a few seconds longer while the API starts up.

Can I search Encar or get many cars at once?

Right now the API returns one car per request. You can send many requests in parallel. If you need search or bulk export, open an issue and tell us what you need.
