FEMA Scraper
Pulls US federal disaster declarations from the official OpenFEMA API. No login, no proxy, no browser.
Input
| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
state | string | Two-letter state or territory code. Omit for all. |
incidentType | string | Exact type, e.g. Fire, Flood, Hurricane. Omit for all. |
maxItems | integer | Cap on declarations, most recent first. Default 50. |
Output
One row per declaration: disasterNumber, femaDeclarationString,
declarationTitle, declarationType, declarationTypeName,
incidentType, state, designatedArea, declarationDate,
incidentBeginDate, incidentEndDate, fiscalYearDeclared,
individualsProgram, individualAssistance, publicAssistance,
hazardMitigation, tribalRequest.
Notes
- One disaster produces many rows. FEMA records a declaration per
designated area, so a hurricane affecting 40 counties appears 40 times with
the same
disasterNumber. Group by that field to count disasters rather than rows. declarationTypeis a two-letter code (DR,EM,FM); the expanded name is added alongside it rather than replacing it.- Filters are OData
$filterclauses and quotes in values are escaped, so an incident type containing an apostrophe cannot break the query. - A
nullincidentEndDatemeans the incident period is still open.
