Pulls Brazilian municipalities and their full administrative hierarchy from the IBGE public API. No login, no proxy, no browser.

Field	Type	Notes
`stateCode`	string	Required. Two-letter UF, e.g. `SP`, `RJ`, `BA`. Default `SP`.
`nameContains`	string	Accent-insensitive name filter. Omit for all.
`maxItems`	integer	Cap on municipalities. Default `100`.

Output

One row per municipality: id, name, stateCode, stateName, region, mesoregion, microregion, immediateRegion, intermediateRegion.

Notes

Search is accent-insensitive. Brazilian place names are full of diacritics — São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, Vitória — so a plain-ASCII filter would silently miss them. Names are normalised before comparison.
IBGE nests the state inside microrregiao.mesorregiao.UF, and separately under the newer regiao-imediata hierarchy. Both are read, with the older path preferred and the newer one as fallback, so the state is never blank.
id is the official 7-digit IBGE municipality code, which is the key other Brazilian datasets join on.
Brazil has 5,570 municipalities; São Paulo state alone has 645, which is why maxItems exists.
