NASA EONET Scraper
Tracks natural events worldwide through NASA's public EONET API: wildfires, severe storms, volcanoes, floods and sea ice, each reduced to its latest reported position. No login, no proxy, no browser.
Input
| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
status | string | open (in progress) | closed | all. Default open. |
category | string | any | wildfires | severeStorms | volcanoes | seaLakeIce | floods | drought | earthquakes | landslides. Default any. |
maxItems | integer | Cap on events returned. Default 30. |
Output
One row per event: id, title, description, categories,
categoryIds, isOpen, closedAt, latestDate, geometryType,
latitude, longitude, magnitude, magnitudeUnit, reportCount,
sources, link.
Notes
- An event is a track, not a point: a cyclone accumulates dozens of
positions over its life. Each row reports the newest one, with
reportCountshowing how many exist, so a moving storm reads as one row rather than fifty. - Reports are not guaranteed to arrive in chronological order, so the latest is selected by comparing dates rather than taking the last element.
- EONET uses GeoJSON ordering,
[longitude, latitude]— the reverse of how coordinates are usually spoken. Wildfires are often polygons rather than points; for those, latitude and longitude are leftnullrather than guessed from a corner, andgeometryTypesays which you got. - Unlike most NASA endpoints, EONET needs no API key, so this Actor is not
exposed to the shared
DEMO_KEYrate limit.
