Open Library Scraper
Searches books by title, author or subject through the Open Library search API. No login, no proxy, no browser.
Input
| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
query | string | Required. Default dune frank herbert. |
searchField | string | q | title | author | subject. Default q. |
sort | string | relevance | new | old | rating | editions. Default relevance. |
maxItems | integer | Cap on books. Default 50. |
Output
One row per work: title, subtitle, authors, authorKeys,
firstPublishYear, editionCount, languages, subjects, publishers,
isbn, ratingsAverage, ratingsCount, hasFullText, ebookAccess,
coverUrl, openLibraryUrl.
Notes
- The default response is enormous. A single popular work carries hundreds
of
iaidentifiers, collection names, ISBNs and subjects — megabytes for a handful of rows. This Actor sends an explicitfieldslist and caps the remaining multi-value columns, which is the difference between a readable spreadsheet and an unusable one. - A search returns works, not editions, so
editionCountis the count of printings rather than the number of rows. sortis omitted forrelevancebecause that is the API's own default and passing it explicitly is rejected.- Covers are referenced by numeric id on a separate host; a work with no cover
yields
nullrather than a URL that 404s.
