World Bank Scraper

Pulls World Bank development indicators for any set of countries and years. No login, no proxy, no browser.

Input

FieldTypeNotes
countriesarrayISO codes, or all. Default Brazil, India, Nigeria.
indicatorsarrayIndicator codes. Default population, GDP per capita, life expectancy.
fromYear / toYearintegerYear range. Default 2015–2024.
skipEmptyYearsbooleanDrop unpublished observations. Default true.

Output

One row per country, indicator and year: country, countryIso2, countryIso3, indicator, indicatorCode, year, value, unit, observationStatus, decimals, lastUpdated.

Notes

  • An invalid indicator code returns HTTP 200 with an error object, not a 4xx. A client that only checks the status treats the error as data and produces zero rows with no explanation; this Actor reads the body and logs what the API objected to.
  • The response is a two-element array: a pagination header followed by the rows. The row list is body[1], and on an error response there is no body[1] at all.
  • Recent years are usually empty. Most indicators lag two to three years, so a range ending this year returns nulls at the top — dropped by default, keepable by turning skipEmptyYears off if you want the gaps visible.
  • countryiso3code is an empty string for aggregates like "World" or "Sub-Saharan Africa"; that becomes null rather than "".
  • Several countries go in one request via BRA;IND;NGA, so the run cost is one request per indicator, not per country.
