Turn Hacker News into clean data. Every month hundreds of startups and tech companies post jobs in the "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread. This Actor parses each post into company, role, location, remote / hybrid / onsite, salary, employment type, visa sponsorship and tech stack, so you can filter them like a job board.

It also searches all of Hacker News since 2006 (stories, comments, Ask HN, Show HN) and pulls the live front page lists. Data comes from the official Hacker News API and the HN Search API. No login, no proxies.

What you can get

Jobs from "Who is hiring?" (one row per post) Company, role, location, work mode, isRemote, salary range as written ($150k-$200k, €75k–80k), employment type, visa sponsorship mention, detected technologies (Python, Rust, React, Kubernetes...), the header line, full text, links, application emails, author, post date and HN link.

Stories and comments from search Title, URL, text, author, points, comment count, date, HN link and type (story, Ask HN, Show HN, job, comment). Filter by minimum points and date range, sort by relevance or date.

Front page lists Top, New, Best, Ask HN, Show HN and YC Jobs, with rank, points and comment count.

Use cases

  • Job seekers: every remote Rust or Python role from this month's thread in a spreadsheet.
  • Recruiters and sales teams: which companies are hiring, what they pay and which stack they use. Track month over month.
  • Job boards and newsletters: a monthly feed of fresh startup jobs with salary data.
  • Market research: how often a technology, competitor or product is discussed, and how it lands (points, comments).
  • Launch monitoring: Show HN posts mentioning your category, every day on a schedule.
  • AI agents: a tool that answers "who is hiring Go engineers in Berlin?" with real posts.

Output

{
"recordType": "job",
"thread": "Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2026)",
"company": "Sidekick Labs",
"role": "Senior SWE, R&D Engineer, Intelligence Engineer",
"workMode": "remote",
"isRemote": true,
"employmentType": "full-time",
"salary": "$170k to $230k",
"technologies": ["python", "go", "ai"],
"header": "Sidekick Labs | Senior SWE, R&D Engineer, Intelligence Engineer | REMOTE (US Timezones) | Full-time | $170k to $230k Base + Equity + Health",
"postedAt": "2026-10-01T15:03:36.000Z",
"hnUrl": "https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=..."
}

Parsing notes: posts follow a loose Company | Role | Location | ... convention. Company is found for nearly every post. Role, location and salary are filled when the poster wrote them in the header (salary is present in roughly 30% of posts). The full header and text are always included so nothing is lost.

Pricing

Pay per result: one charge per job post, and a smaller one per story or comment. Errors are free.
