Bank & Financial Institution Lookup Scraper

Look up banks and financial institutions by name across FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext, and CFTC directories. Returns the official name, ticker, regulatory ID, and source for each match. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Finding a financial institution's official registration details usually means searching each regulator's website one by one. This Actor queries the FFIEC's FDIC bank directory, NYSE listings, Euronext equities, and CFTC COT reports in a single run. It filters by name or ticker and returns a unified record for every match.

Who uses itWhat they scrape FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext & CFTC for
Compliance officersVerify a counterparty's regulatory status and official name before onboarding.
Financial data analystsBuild a master list of active institutions across US and European markets.
JournalistsTrace a company's exchange listing and regulatory filings for a story.
Risk managersCheck if an entity appears in CFTC commitment of traders reports.

What it does

This Actor collects financial institution records from four official directories by name or ticker and returns each match as a flat row.

  • 🏦 Multi-source lookup: Query FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext, and CFTC directories at once.
  • πŸ” Name filter: Supply a case-insensitive substring to match on institution name or ticker.
  • πŸ“‹ Unified output: Every result returns the source, official name, ticker, and regulatory identifier in one schema.
  • βš™οΈ Source selection: Enable only the directories you need for a given run.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext & CFTC data

πŸ“„ Automate counterparty due diligence.

A compliance team runs the Actor nightly with a list of prospective client names to confirm each one appears in the FFIEC directory before opening an account.

πŸ“Š Build a watchlist of listed financial firms.

A market data analyst queries the NYSE and Euronext sources weekly to maintain a current table of all financial-sector tickers and their official company names.

πŸ”Ž Investigate a firm's regulatory footprint.

A journalist enters a company name to see if it appears as a CFTC reportable entity and to pull its FDIC registration details in one step.

Why choose this scraper

What you get
Single run, four sourcesQuery FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext, and CFTC in one execution instead of four separate searches.
Official identifiersGet the RSSD ID, FDIC certificate number, or exchange ticker directly from the authoritative source.
Flexible matchingA case-insensitive name filter finds partial matches so you can look up an institution even with an incomplete name.

How it compares

No other Store actor targets FFIEC, NYSE, Euronext & CFTC the same way, so the honest comparison is with the alternatives teams actually weigh.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that your query string is not too specific. The filter is a case-insensitive substring match, so try a shorter part of the name. Also verify that at least one source is selected in the input.

The run timed out before collecting all institutions.

Lower the 'Maximum institutions' value or select fewer sources. Querying all four directories without a name filter can return a large volume of data.

I see duplicate entries for the same institution.

An institution may be listed in multiple sources. Each source returns a separate row so you can see the different identifiers. Deduplicate in your downstream process using the name or a specific ID.

The ticker field is empty for a bank I know is listed.

The ticker is populated from the NYSE and Euronext sources. If the institution is only in the FFIEC or CFTC directories, the ticker field will be blank because those sources do not provide ticker symbols.

FAQ

QuestionAnswer
Which directories does this Actor search? It searches the FFIEC's FDIC institution directory, NYSE listings, Euronext equities, and the CFTC's Commitment of Traders reports. You can enable or disable any of the four sources in the input.
Can I search by ticker symbol?Yes. The query field performs a case-insensitive substring match against both the institution name and the ticker symbol where available.
What identifiers does the output include? The output includes the source directory, the official institution name, the ticker symbol for exchange-listed entities, and the regulatory ID such as the FDIC certificate number or RSSD ID.
Is the query field required? No. If you leave the query field empty, the Actor will return all institutions from the selected sources up to the maximum items limit you set.
How do I limit the number of results?Set the 'Maximum institutions' field to an integer. The Actor will stop collecting once it reaches that number of matches across all selected sources.
Does this Actor require an API key for the financial directories? No. It reads the public directory data directly. You do not need to register for an API key with any of the four sources.
What is the FFIEC source? It is the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's public directory of FDIC-insured banks and financial institutions in the United States.
Can I run this for European institutions only?Yes. Select only the 'Euronext equities' source in the input and the Actor will query only that directory.
What data does the CFTC source return? It returns entities listed in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Commitments of Traders reports, which include futures commission merchants and other reportable firms.
