🏛 Colorado Business Registry Scraper

🚀 Export Colorado business entities in seconds. Name, ID number, status, entity type, formation date, principal and mailing address and registered agent for entities in the official Colorado Secretary of State database, with no account and no API key.

The Colorado Secretary of State publishes every business entity registered in the state: corporations, LLCs, partnerships, nonprofits and trade names. This Actor searches that official database by entity name, ID number or trademark and returns one flat row per entity, with the registered agent and the principal office address when you ask for details.

Colorado returns one result line per filing event, so the same company can appear many times in the registry grid. The Actor collapses those lines to one row per entity ID.

🎯 Target Audience💡 Primary Use Cases
Sales and lead generation teamsFind registered Colorado companies by name and confirm they are active
Lawyers and paralegalsLook up the registered agent and principal office before serving or contacting a company
Banks, KYC and compliance teamsCheck that a counterparty exists, its entity type and its standing
Registered agent servicesTrack entities by agent and formation date
Journalists and researchersTrace who is behind a Colorado company
Data teamsSeed or refresh an internal company table for Colorado

📋 What the Colorado Business Registry Scraper does

💡 Why it matters: a company name on an invoice or a contract proves nothing. The Secretary of State record shows whether the entity exists, what kind it is, and where its agent can be reached.

  • Searches the official Colorado Secretary of State business database.
  • Three search types: entity name, ID number and trademark.
  • Returns one row per entity, collapsing the repeated filing-event lines the registry shows.
  • Returns status, entity form, formation date and jurisdiction of formation.
  • Optional detail pass adds the principal office address, the mailing address and the registered agent with its street address.
  • Reports the registry message when a search is too broad instead of returning zero rows silently.
  • Writes an unbilled error row when the registry refuses or finds nothing.

📊 Output

Every row is one Colorado business entity. Columns the Colorado registry does not publish, such as FEI/EIN and officers, are not in the output. Address columns are filled when full details are on.

✨ Why choose this Actor

  • Official source. Every row comes from coloradosos.gov, not from a resold list.
  • One row per entity. The registry prints a line for every filing event; the Actor keeps one.
  • Trademark search included. Search registered Colorado trademarks as well as entities.
  • Registered agent on the row. Name and street address, with the principal and mailing addresses.
  • Honest limits. Very broad names are refused by the registry itself and the Actor tells you so.
  • Clean tables. Fixed column order, ready for CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.

💼 Business use cases

Lead generation

Search a company name and keep only the entities with Good Standing status, so your outreach list does not contain dissolved companies.

Counterparty checks

Confirm that a Colorado company exists, what type it is and when it was formed before you sign or pay.

Pull the registered agent and the street address to use for notices.

Brand protection

Search a trademark text to see which Colorado entities hold similar names.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

🔎 Which searches does it support?

Entity name, ID number and trademark. Colorado does not offer a search by registered agent or officer in this database.

🌐 Which registry does it read?

The Colorado Secretary of State business database at coloradosos.gov/biz. Nothing is read from third-party aggregators.

🚫 What does "Exceeded Record Count" mean?

Colorado refuses a name that matches too many filings instead of paginating. The Actor writes the registry message on an error row. Search a longer name, for example "Meta Platforms" instead of "Meta".

🏢 Why are there fewer rows than the registry grid shows?

The registry prints one line per filing event. The Actor keeps one row per entity ID.

📍 Why are the address columns empty for some rows?

Addresses come from the entity page and need full details on. Trade names and trademarks have no such page.

🧑‍💼 What is in the registered agent field?

The agent name and street address as the registry prints them.

📅 What date format is used?

The registry format, month/day/year, kept as printed.

🔑 Do I need an account or API key for the registry?

No. The Actor reads the public Colorado registry. There is nothing to sign up for and no key to paste.

🧾 Is this personal data?

The Actor returns business entity records as the registry publishes them: legal name, ID, status, addresses of the business and its registered agent. It does not look anyone up elsewhere and adds nothing to what the registry prints. Use the data in line with the privacy and marketing laws that apply to you.

📦 How many records can I export?

As many as the registry returns for the search, up to 1,000,000 on a paid plan. Free accounts are limited to 10 records per run.

🔀 Can the same entity appear twice?

Not within one run for searches that list entities. Rows are deduplicated on the registry identifier where the registry lists several rows per entity.

🌐 Do I need a proxy?

The default is Apify Proxy with a United States exit, which is enough in most cases. If the registry refuses it, the Actor retries from a residential US exit on its own.

🛑 What happens when the registry does not answer?

The Actor writes one error row that says what went wrong and does not charge for it. A run that finds nothing says so on a row instead of finishing silently empty.

💰 What am I charged for?

One result per business record delivered. Error rows and empty searches are not charged. The price per result is on the Pricing tab of the Actor page.

📤 Which formats can I export?

CSV, Excel, JSON and XML from the Storage tab, or through the Apify API.

🔌 Integrate with any app

Every run writes to an Apify dataset you can read over the REST API, stream into a webhook, or export as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML. Apify's integrations cover Make, Zapier, Airbyte, Slack, Google Drive, GitHub, Google Sheets and plain HTTP webhooks, so the rows land wherever your team already works.
