Skip Trace People Search Scraper
Scrape Spokeo people-search records by first name, last name, and US state, up to a million per run. Each record returns the full name, age, known locations, relatives, and phone numbers from the public directory. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.
Skip tracing by hand means typing the same name into a dozen people-search sites, state by state, and copying what you find. This Actor reads the public Spokeo state-page directory for you. Give it a first name, a last name, and a US state, and it returns every matching record in one flat dataset.
| Who uses it | What they scrape Spokeo for |
|---|---|
| Private investigators | Locate a subject's current address and known associates across a single state. |
| Debt collectors and skip tracers | Find updated contact details and relatives for hard-to-reach individuals. |
| Legal professionals | Gather location history and household members for service-of-process research. |
| Genealogy researchers | Map family connections and historical addresses from public directory listings. |
What it does
This Actor collects Spokeo people-search records by first name, last name, and US state, and returns each person as a flat row with their full name, age, known locations, relatives, and phone numbers.
- 🗺️ State-scoped search: pick any US state from the full dropdown, so you can narrow results to one jurisdiction at a time.
- 📇 Person-level rows: each record is one individual, with their full name, age, current and past cities, relatives, and phone numbers.
- 🔢 Scalable volume: set a maximum from 1 to 1,000,000 records per run, and the Actor stops cleanly when it hits your limit.
- 📤 Multi-format export: download your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, ready for your case-management or skip-tracing tool.
Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.
What you can do with Spokeo data
🔍 Skip trace a subject by state.
A private investigator enters a subject's first and last name plus the state where they last resided, and the Actor returns every matching Spokeo record with current and past addresses, relatives, and phone numbers to prioritize field visits.
📋 Build a contact list for debt recovery.
A collections agency runs batches of debtor names through the Actor, one state at a time, and exports the resulting phone numbers and addresses to feed their outbound contact workflow.
⚖️ Research service addresses for legal filings.
A paralegal searches for a defendant's name in the state where the case is filed, collects all listed cities and household members, and uses the dataset to prepare multiple service attempts.
🌳 Reconstruct family trees from public records.
A genealogy researcher searches an ancestor's name in their known home state, gathers every relative listed on the Spokeo directory, and cross-references the names to fill gaps in a family tree.
Why choose this scraper
| What you get | |
|---|---|
| Full name and age | The person's reported name and age as listed in the public directory. |
| Location history | Current and previous cities and states tied to the individual. |
| Known relatives | Names of family members and associates linked to the record. |
| Phone numbers | Any phone numbers associated with the person in the directory. |
How it compares
This Actor and the Skip Trace actor both scrape people-search directories, but they differ in source coverage and input controls.
| Feature | ParseForge | Skip Trace |
|---|---|---|
| Spokeo directory scraping | Yes | Yes |
| State-level search filter | Yes | Not listed |
| First and last name input | Yes | Not listed |
| Configurable max records per run | Yes | Not listed |
| Multiple people-search site sources | Not listed | Yes |
Configure the run
Drive the Actor with a first name, a last name, and a US state. The state filter runs before any records are collected, so only matches from that state reach your dataset. The Input tab lists every parameter.
A first run with the defaults:
{"maxItems": 10,"firstName": "John","lastName": "Smith","state": "California"}
A larger pull:
{"maxItems": 200,"firstName": "John","lastName": "Smith","state": "California"}
Pricing
Pay-per-result: $0.018 per result collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

|---|---|
| 100 results | $1.80 |
| 1,000 results | $18.00 |
| 10,000 results | $180.00 |

Use with AI agents (MCP)
Give an AI agent live access to Spokeo through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:
$claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/skip-trace-scraper"
Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.
Troubleshooting
Why am I getting no results?
Check the spelling of the first and last name. Try common nicknames or alternate spellings. Also confirm the person has a public Spokeo listing in the state you selected.
The run stopped before reaching my maxItems limit.
The Actor stops when Spokeo has no more matching records for that name and state. Lowering your maxItems will not produce more results; try a different state or name variant.
I see fewer fields in my output than expected.
Spokeo listings vary. Some records include phone numbers and relatives, while others may show only a name and city. The Actor returns whatever is publicly available for each person.
The Actor is running slowly or timing out.
Large maxItems values or slow network conditions can increase run time. Try reducing the maxItems, or add Apify residential proxies in the Actor's proxy settings to improve reliability.
I need to search all 50 states for one name.
Run the Actor once per state. You can automate this by creating an Apify task list or using the API to loop through the state enum values and aggregate the resulting datasets.
FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What data source does this Actor use? | It reads the public Spokeo state-page directory. You do not need a Spokeo account or API key. |
| Can I search multiple states in one run? | The input accepts one state per run. To cover multiple states, run the Actor once per state, or use an Apify workflow to loop over a list of states. |
| Is a middle name or city required? | No. The Actor needs only a first name, a last name, and a US state. It will return all records that match that name in that state. |
| How many records can I collect? | You set the maximum, from 1 up to 1,000,000 records per run. The Actor stops when it reaches your limit or when no more matches exist. |
| What output formats are supported? | You can export your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify platform. |
| Does this Actor provide real-time or historical data? | It returns the records as they appear on the public Spokeo directory at the time of the run. Spokeo's own refresh cycle determines how current the data is. |
| Can I use this for employment or tenant screening? | This Actor collects publicly available directory information. You are responsible for complying with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and any other applicable laws if you use the data for screening decisions. |
| Do I need proxies to run this Actor? | Apify's platform handles the connection. For larger runs, using Apify residential proxies can help avoid rate-limiting, but a basic run works without custom proxy setup. |
| What if a name returns no results? | The run will complete with an empty dataset. Try a different spelling, a nickname, or a neighboring state where the person may have lived. |
| Can I search by phone number or address instead? | This Actor searches by first name, last name, and state only. It does not support reverse phone or address lookup. |
