WellRx Drug Prices Scraper

Scrape prescription drug prices from WellRx by drug name and ZIP code, up to a million per run. Each result includes the pharmacy name, price, dosage, and savings estimate. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Comparing prescription drug prices across pharmacies is tedious when you have to search one medication and one location at a time. WellRx publishes cash and discount prices for thousands of drugs at local pharmacies, but there is no bulk export. This Actor searches WellRx for any drug and ZIP code you provide, reads the public pricing pages, and returns every match in a consistent, flat schema.

Who uses itWhat they scrape WellRx for
Healthcare analystsTracking cash price variation for a specific drug across different regions.
Pharmacy benefit managersAuditing discount card pricing against contracted rates in a given ZIP code.
Patient advocatesFinding the lowest local cash price for a prescribed medication to share with community members.
Market researchersMonitoring how a brand-name drug's discount price changes week over week in major metro areas.

What it does

This Actor collects WellRx drug price listings by drug name and US ZIP code, and returns each pharmacy and its pricing as a flat row.

  • ๐Ÿ’Š Drug name search: Provide any prescription drug name, such as atorvastatin or metformin, to get its pricing.
  • ๐Ÿ“ Local pricing by ZIP: Narrow results to pharmacies near a specific US ZIP code for geographically relevant prices.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Flat row output: Each result is a single row with pharmacy, price, dosage, and savings, ready for analysis.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with WellRx data

๐Ÿ’Š Compare local cash prices for a prescription.

A patient advocate enters a drug and the patient's ZIP code to find the three cheapest nearby pharmacies and shares the list before a refill.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Monitor price changes over time.

A market researcher runs the Actor weekly for the same drug and ZIP code, then plots the discount price trend to spot pharmacy pricing cycles.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Map regional price variation.

A healthcare analyst runs the Actor for one drug across 50 ZIP codes and builds a heatmap of cash prices to identify high-cost pockets.

๐Ÿ” Audit discount card performance.

A pharmacy benefit manager scrapes prices for a set of drugs in a plan's service area and compares WellRx discount prices to the plan's negotiated rates.

Why choose this scraper

What you get
Pharmacy name and addressWhich pharmacy offers the price and where it is located

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

First, check that the drug name is spelled correctly and matches a prescription medication WellRx covers. Second, try a different ZIP code. Some rural ZIP codes have few or no participating pharmacies nearby, which can return an empty list.

The Actor returns fewer results than my maxItems setting.

The maxItems value is an upper limit. The Actor stops when it has collected that many prices or when WellRx has no more pharmacies to show for your search. If you hit the limit, increase maxItems and run again.

I searched for a common drug but only got a few prices.

WellRx may group results by dosage form. Try searching with the base drug name without specifying a strength. Also, ensure your ZIP code is in a densely populated area with many pharmacies.

The run fails with a timeout error.

A very large maxItems value combined with a slow WellRx response can cause timeouts. Try reducing maxItems or increasing the Actor's timeout setting in your Apify run configuration.

The prices look different from what I see on the WellRx website.

Drug prices can change frequently. The Actor scrapes the live site at the moment you run it. Check the website manually at the same time to confirm. Small differences may also occur if the site runs A/B tests or personalizes results by browser session.
