ORCID Public Profiles Scraper API – Researchers & Works
Search ORCID's public v3 API by exact ORCID iD, researcher name, affiliation organization, or keyword. Each paid profile item nests bounded public works and activities while preserving visibility and source/assertion metadata.
Fast start
{"orcidIds":["0000-0002-1825-0097"],"maxResults":1,"maxWorks":25,"maxActivities":25}
Empty input uses the same public ORCID documentation/demo profile and returns one item. For expanded search, clear orcidIds:
{"orcidIds":[],"name":"Josiah Carberry","affiliation":"Brown University","maxCandidates":20,"maxResults":5}
Outputs include canonical profile URL, public names/biography/keywords/URLs/external IDs, normalized employments, educations, memberships and related affiliations, public work summaries, section visibility, assertion sources, retrieval time, and bounded-query disclosure. Private or absent sections are stable empty arrays.
Pricing and limits
$0.0001/start + $0.002/profile item. The one-profile default costs at most $0.0021. Results are capped at 20, expanded-search candidates at 50, and works/activities at 100 per profile. A configured maximum total run charge reduces the profile cap before source requests.
Important interpretation limits
ORCID records are self-managed and contributor-supplied. ORCID does not verify identity, employment, current affiliation, education, membership, authorship, or external-identifier ownership. Visibility and assertion-source metadata are evidence about the returned record, not independent verification. Records may be private, incomplete, duplicated, stale, corrected, or removed. NO_MATCH is limited to the exact or bounded public query checked; SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE produces no profile conclusion.
