🚀 Google Trends Scraper: Interest Over Time, Regions, Related Queries and Trending Now
Export Google search trends for any keyword as clean JSON, CSV or Excel, with no API key. The Google Trends Scraper returns interest over time, interest by region, and the top and rising related queries for each keyword, plus the live Trending Now feed of trending searches for any country, with approximate search volume, growth and news coverage. Use it as a practical Google Trends API for SEO, keyword research, content planning and market research.
🎯 Google Search Trends Use Cases
- Track Google search trends over time: pull the 0–100 interest curve for your brand, product or topic and schedule it to build your own trend history.
- Monitor trending searches and top searches on Google: get the Trending Now list for the US, UK or any country every few hours, with approximate traffic and growth for each trending topic today.
- Keyword research and SEO: find rising queries and Breakout terms around a seed keyword before your competitors write about them, and spot seasonal peaks for content calendars.
- Find trending keywords by region: see which US states or countries search a term the most, to target ads, local pages or launches.
- Google Trends data for analysis: feed weekly or daily interest values into a spreadsheet, BI tool or model without copying charts by hand.
- Compare surfaces: measure the same keyword on Web, Image, News, YouTube or Google Shopping search.
✨ Features
- Interest over time: 0–100 search interest for any keyword, hourly for the past day or week, daily for 1–3 months, weekly for a year or more, back to 2004. Each point has a date, a readable label, the value and an
isPartialflag for the period still in progress. - Summary numbers:
averageInterestover the chosen period andpeakInterestDate, the period with the highest interest. - Interest by region: every US state, or every country worldwide, ranked by relative interest.
- Related queries: the top 25 and the 25 fastest-rising related searches, including Breakout terms, each with a link to its own Google Trends page.
- Trending Now: hundreds of currently trending searches per country (about 430 in the US and 290 in the UK on a typical day), each with approximate traffic, growth percent, start time, related queries, category IDs and the number of news articles.
- Any region, any surface: country or sub-region codes (
US,GB,US-CA…) and Web, Image, News, YouTube or Shopping search. - Category filter: narrow interest to Finance, Sports, Health, Shopping and 20 other Google Trends categories (see the table below).
- No duplicates: a keyword entered twice is scraped and charged once.
- Fair billing: a keyword that fails after retries is not saved and not charged, and the run's status message lists it so you can rerun just those.
🛠️ How It Works
- Enter keywords, one per line. Pick a region, a time range and, optionally, a search type or category.
- Optionally turn on Trending Now to also get what people are searching for right now in that region, and raise Max results if you want the whole feed.
- Run the scraper and download the results, or pull them through the Apify API.
⚙️ Input
| Field | What it does |

📊 Sample Google Trends Data
Each keyword gives one keyword report (long arrays trimmed with "…"):
{"keyword": "bitcoin","geo": "US","timeRange": "today 12-m","category": 0,"property": "web","averageInterest": 33.2,"peakInterestDate": "Feb 1 – 7, 2026","interestOverTime": [{ "date": "2025-10-19T00:00:00.000Z", "label": "Oct 19 – 25, 2025", "value": 31, "isPartial": false },{ "date": "2025-10-26T00:00:00.000Z", "label": "Oct 26 – Nov 1, 2025", "value": 32, "isPartial": false },"…",{ "date": "2026-10-18T00:00:00.000Z", "label": "Oct 18 – 24, 2026", "value": 14, "isPartial": true }],"interestByRegion": [{ "geoCode": "US-WY", "geoName": "Wyoming", "value": 100 },{ "geoCode": "US-KS", "geoName": "Kansas", "value": 47 },"…"],"relatedQueriesTop": [{"query": "bitcoin price","value": 100,"formattedValue": "100","url": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=bitcoin+price&date=today+12-m&geo=US"},"…"],"relatedQueriesRising": [{"query": "spcx stock","value": 15250,"formattedValue": "Breakout","url": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=spcx+stock&date=today+12-m&geo=US"},"…"],"url": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=bitcoin&date=today+12-m&geo=US","scrapedAt": "2026-10-20T06:03:01.941Z"}
With Include Trending Now on, each trending search is one Trending Now entry:
{"keyword": "revolut","geo": "GB","startedAt": "2026-10-20T06:10:00.000Z","approxTraffic": 100000,"trafficGrowthPercent": 1000,"relatedQueries": ["revolut", "revolut down", "is revolut down", "google cloud outage", "revolut app not working", "…"],"categoryIds": [11],"newsArticleCount": 26,"url": "https://trends.google.com/trending?geo=GB&q=revolut","scrapedAt": "2026-10-20T16:23:16.402Z"}
Interest values are relative (0–100) to the peak for the chosen keyword, region and time range, exactly as on Google Trends; they are not absolute search counts. In related queries, value is a 0–100 score for top queries and the growth percent for rising ones, and formattedValue shows Breakout when growth is above 5,000%. approxTraffic is Google's traffic bucket (e.g. 100000 means "100K+ searches"). categoryIds are Google's numeric Trending Now categories. A keyword report's url opens the same chart on Google Trends, with the region, category and search type you chose.
🔁 Schedule and Integrate
For trend tracking, run it once a day or once a week with the same keywords: every run is a dated snapshot, and together they form your own Google search trends history. For trending searches, run Trending Now every 4 hours with the 4-hour window to catch topics as they start. Set either up in Apify Schedules. Send the results to Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or a webhook with Apify integrations, so new trends land where your team already works.
🤖 Use with AI Agents (MCP)
This Actor works as a tool in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients through the Apify MCP server (https://mcp.apify.com). An agent can call it with:
{ "keywords": ["electric cars"], "geo": "US", "timeRange": "today 12-m", "maxItems": 5 }
❓ Google Trends API FAQ
Does Google Trends have an official API? Google announced a Google Trends API in 2025, but it is in alpha with access limited to approved testers, so there is no general public Google Trends API you can sign up for today. Unofficial libraries such as pytrends often break or get rate-limited. This Actor needs no key, no approval and no rate-limit handling on your side, and returns the data as ready-to-use JSON, CSV or Excel.
Is this a pytrends alternative for Google Trends data in Python? Yes. Instead of maintaining a pytrends script, call the Actor from Python with the Apify API client and read the dataset: the same interest over time, interest by region and related queries, already parsed.
How do I see trending searches and top searches on Google today? Turn on Include Trending Now, pick a country and a window (4 hours to 7 days), and set Max results high enough for the whole feed (the US feed is usually 400+ entries). Each entry has approximate traffic, growth, start time, related queries and the number of news articles.
Do I need a Google account? No. Because of that, related topics are not included: Google only shows them to signed-in users. Related queries (top and rising) are included.
Why is a field empty? Rare or very new keywords may have too little search volume for Google Trends to show data: the timeline, regions or related queries can then be empty and averageInterest and peakInterestDate are null. Regions with too little data are left out of interestByRegion.
Are there limits? Google returns up to 25 top and 25 rising related queries per keyword. Max results counts keywords and Trending Now entries together, so raise it above 50 for long keyword lists or the full Trending Now feed. For lists of several hundred keywords, also raise the run timeout in the run options: the run stops starting new keywords shortly before its time limit and lists the ones it did not reach in the status message.
How do I compare keywords on Google Trends? Each keyword gets its own report scaled 0–100 to its own peak, so compare the shape and timing of the curves (peaks, seasonality, rising queries) rather than the raw values. For absolute monthly search volumes, pair it with the Google Keyword Volume Scraper below.
