Domain Availability Checker (Bulk): RDAP + DNS, Name Ideas Included
Find out which domain names are free to register, hundreds or thousands at a time. Paste a list of domains, or give keywords and extensions and let the tool build the candidates for you (with optional prefixes, suffixes and hyphenated forms). Every name is checked in DNS, and against the registry's own RDAP service (the official successor to WHOIS) wherever the registry's terms allow it. For names that are taken you can also get the registrar, creation and expiry dates, status codes and nameservers. $0.40 per 1,000 domains.
What does this domain availability checker do?
- Checks availability at the source. It looks up each extension in IANA's RDAP directory and asks that registry directly. A "not found" answer from the registry means the name is not registered. Over 1,200 extensions have an RDAP service, including .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .app, .dev, .xyz, .co.uk and most new gTLDs.
- Double-checks with DNS. Names the registry reports as unregistered are also checked for a DNS delegation, so a name that is live in DNS is never reported as free.
- Respects registry terms on bulk lookups. Verisign (.com, .net), Public Interest Registry (.org) and Identity Digital (.io, .ai, .me and its other extensions) do not allow high-volume automated RDAP queries except as needed to register names. For these registries the tool uses RDAP only when a run has 10 or fewer names for that registry, the size of a normal "can I register this?" check. Larger batches for those registries are checked in DNS only and marked
verified: false. - Covers extensions without RDAP. For extensions such as .co, .de and .eu, which have no public RDAP service, the tool uses DNS alone and marks the result
verified: falseso you know to confirm it at a registrar. - Generates name ideas. Keywords x extensions, plus prefixes (get, try, my), suffixes (hq, app, labs) and hyphenated variants. Duplicates are removed.
- Returns details for taken names. Registrar, IANA ID, created, updated and expiry dates, domain age, days to expiry, status codes and nameservers.
- Plays fair with registries. At most 2-4 parallel requests per registry, extra spacing for registries that throttle quickly, and automatic slow-down and retry when a registry answers "429 Too Many Requests".
Each result has one of these statuses:
| status | Meaning |
|---|---|
available | Not registered. verified: true means the registry confirmed it; verified: false means DNS-only. |
registered | Taken. Registrar and dates are filled when the registry was queried over RDAP; DNS-only results list the nameservers. |
reserved | The registry lists the name as reserved. |
unknown | The registry and DNS could not be reached; run the name again later. |
Who uses it?
- Founders, marketers and naming agencies shortlisting brand names across .com, .io, .ai and other extensions.
- Domain investors screening large keyword lists before going to a registrar.
- Agencies and product teams checking campaign and product-launch domains in bulk.
- Developers adding an availability step to naming tools, chatbots or onboarding flows through the API.
How to use it
- Click Try for free (or Start).
- Paste full domain names into Domains to check, and/or add Keywords plus the Extensions you care about.
- Optionally add Prefixes, Suffixes and turn on hyphenated variants.
- Turn on Only save available domains if you only want the free names (you then pay only for those).
- Run it and filter the table by
status.

Volume discounts on higher Apify plans. The prices above are for the Apify Free plan. On paid plans the per-result price drops automatically: about 15% lower on Bronze, 25% lower on Silver and 38% lower on Gold and above.
Use it via API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent
Apify API. Start a run and get the results back in one HTTP request (replace YOUR_API_TOKEN with the token from Apify Console > Settings > Integrations):
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/plotpointtech~bulk-domain-availability-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"keywords": ["green energy"], "tlds": ["com", "io", "ai"], "onlyAvailable": true}'
For longer jobs, start the run asynchronously and read the dataset when it finishes. Official apify-client libraries exist for Python and JavaScript; the API tab on this page has ready-made code.
No-code automation. Connect the tool to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Slack, Airtable or any webhook with Apify integrations, and use Schedules in Apify Console to re-check a watch list daily or weekly.
AI agents (MCP). Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP-compatible agent direct access to this tool through the hosted Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to your client:
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=plotpointtech/bulk-domain-availability-checker
The agent can then brainstorm names and check them in the same conversation.
FAQ
Is it legal to check domain availability this way? Yes. RDAP is the public lookup service registries run under their ICANN or national agreements, and DNS is public by design. The tool sends ordinary RDAP and DNS queries at a modest rate and backs off when asked. Registries' terms generally allow lookups made to decide whether to register a name; do not use the output for unsolicited marketing to registrants. The tool does not collect registrant personal data.
How accurate is "available"?
When verified is true, the registry itself has no record of the name and DNS agrees. DNS-only results are reliable for names that are in use. Some registries hold back premium or reserved names that do not appear in RDAP, so a registrar may still refuse a name or charge a premium price. When verified is false (DNS-only extensions), a registered name with no nameservers would look the same, so confirm at a registrar before relying on it.
Which extensions are DNS-only?
Those without a public RDAP service, for example .co, .de, .eu, .gg and several other country codes. Also .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .me and the other Identity Digital extensions when a run has more than 10 names for the same registry, because those registries' terms do not allow bulk automated RDAP queries. To get registry-verified answers and registration details for your final shortlist, run it again with 10 or fewer names per registry. The note field explains each result.
Do you show prices or aftermarket listings? No. The tool reports registry status only. Check prices at your registrar.
Why can a large run with .app or .dev take longer? Some registries allow only a few lookups per second. The tool slows down for that registry instead of failing, while other extensions keep going.
