EPA TSCA Inventory Monitor: CAS Number Active/Inactive Alerts

Watch a book of CASRNs and emit typed Inventory events when the official EPA non-CBI TSCA Inventory CSV shows a substance flipping ACTIVITY ACTIVE↔INACTIVE, changing material FLAG values, appearing, or dropping from the published non-CBI list.

Who this is for: Chemical importers and distributors, product-stewardship / EHS compliance teams, customs brokers filing TSCA import certifications, and regulatory consultants. The recurring job: tell me when a CAS number in my portfolio changes TSCA Inventory status or picks up a regulatory flag.

Quick start

1. Put your CAS Registry Numbers in casrns (example: 50-00-0).
2. Set sourceMode = live.
3. Save as an Actor Task and schedule it monthly (EPA refreshes the non-CBI Inventory about twice a year).
4. First run vs later runs: run 1 stores a baseline for each key (no change events, no product charge). Run 2+ emits only real changes. Keep the same Task so the baseline persists.

Default sourceMode=fixture is a free health check (one non-billable RUN_STATUS row), not product data. You pay $0.02 only per delivered unique change event; quiet books cost only the platform start fee.

Scope: a watchlist monitor, not a bulk dump. You are billed per delivered change on your own keys, never per national row.

• Scope: Published non-CBI Inventory ACTIVITY/FLAG only — do not claim Master Inventory (CBI) coverage, ChemView dockets, or CDR site-level manufacture volumes.

First observation of a CASRN stores a baseline only (no product charge).

Modes

• sourceMode=fixture (default): Store health / CI. With emitFixtureDemoEvents=false (default) emits only RUN_STATUS / FIXTURE_HEALTH → 0 product charges.
• sourceMode=live: Official EPA Inventory CSV zip (no API key). One zip pull, extract TSCAINV_*.csv, in-memory filter to the watchlist — does not bill national rows.
