Search Checkatrade for tradespeople by UK location and trade category. Returns company name, ratings, review counts, skills, and phone numbers when available.

A real browser clears Cloudflare; listings are then pulled from Checkatrade’s public matching search API (paginated), with optional filtering to rows that include a phone number.

Features

  • Location: full postcode recommended (e.g. E6 1AE); city / area strings are resolved when possible
  • 1000+ trade categories (plumber, electrician, builder, …)
  • Page limit (~12 results per page)
  • Optional “phone required” filter
  • Sponsored vs organic flag when provided by the API

Input

FieldTypeDefaultDescription
locationstringe6 1aePostcode or place
categorystring20 (Plumber)Category id
maxPagesinteger1Pages to fetch; 0 = all. Alias: max_pages
requirePhoneNumberbooleanfalseDrop rows without a phone. Alias: require_phone_number
proxyConfigurationobject—Residential proxy recommended

Input example

{
"location": "E6 1AE",
"category": "20",
"maxPages": 1,
"requirePhoneNumber": false
}

Output

One dataset item per tradesperson:

FieldDescription
companyId / name / uniqueName / urlIdentity and profile link
score / recentScore / reviewCountRatings
phone / phoneE164 / contactPhone details
skills / services / summaryWhat they offer
locality / operatingLocationText / distanceFromSearchArea
isSponsored / trackingBadgesListing flags
searchLocation / categoryId / page / scrapedAtProvenance

Tips

  • Prefer a full UK postcode for accurate radius matching.
  • Start with maxPages: 1 to validate proxies, then raise the limit.
  • Cloudflare often blocks plain HTTP / datacenter IPs — use a residential proxy on Apify.
