What is Direktvergabe?

Direktvergabe (direct allocation) is a programme run by Wiener Wohnen, the City of Vienna's public housing management company. Under Direktvergabe, existing tenants who wish to leave their Gemeindebau (social housing) flat can offer it directly to the public. Listings include the apartment's address, district, size, monthly rent, and any transfer fee (Privatablöse) agreed between the outgoing and incoming tenant.

Because these flats carry subsidised rents well below the private market, the listings are in high demand. This scraper lets researchers, housing advocates, journalists, and tenants track the full list of currently available Direktvergabe flats in real time.

How to use

1. Provide start URLs

The default start URL covers the entire Direktvergabe search:

You can also paste a direct listing URL (a URL containing /direktvergabe-wohnung/ in its path) to scrape just one flat.

2. Set maxItems

Use the Maximum items field to limit how many listings are returned per start URL. The default is 5 for testing. Set it to 100 or higher to collect all available listings.

3. Proxy settings

No proxy is required. The site does not block crawlers on its public listing pages. Leave the proxy setting at the default (useApifyProxy: false) to keep costs low.

4. Run and export

Click Start and wait for the run to finish. Results appear in the Dataset tab. Use the Export button to download as JSON, CSV, or Excel.
