Scheduled Google News searches that return only unseen articles

Google News Keyword Monitor and Alert Feed converts public Google News RSS searches into a persistent media-monitoring stream. It is designed for brand mentions, competitor intelligence, company monitoring, regulatory topics, market research, public-relations workflows, and automation systems that need new headlines rather than the same search page on every run.

Provide up to 20 keyword or advanced search queries, a two-letter language, a two-letter country edition, and a stable monitorId. The Actor requests the corresponding public RSS editions and normalizes article identity, headline, publisher, publication time, feed link, discovery query, source, and discovery timestamp. Results found by multiple queries are deduplicated within the run.

Persistent deduplication

A bounded set of delivered article IDs is stored in limited-permission named key-value storage. Scheduled runs suppress previously delivered records while preserving the query that first discovered each new article. Separate monitor IDs maintain independent histories for clients, brands, projects, or alert topics.

previewOnly=true is enabled by default. Preview mode confirms query behavior, locale settings, source availability, and potential output without charging custom events or changing state. Partial query failures are shown in the summary. If every source request fails, the run fails visibly instead of pretending there were no relevant articles.

Output

Article alerts include the stable article ID, headline, publisher, publication time, Google News link, search query, public source identifier, and discovery timestamp. The alerts dataset view supports webhooks, media dashboards, research archives, email digests, and downstream classification. The Actor deliberately returns source metadata rather than claiming to reproduce publisher article bodies.

Pricing

Pricing is Pay per event + usage with no start fee. Each delivered unseen article uses event new_google_news_alert at $0.003. Duplicate articles are not billed again. Apify platform usage is charged separately to the runner under the platform’s normal compute and storage rules. Preview mode does not emit the paid event.

Google News controls feed coverage, ranking, links, and availability. This Actor reports what the public feed returned and does not promise exhaustive global news coverage. Users remain responsible for lawful usage and for respecting publisher rights when following article links.
