This Companies House scraper searches the official UK company register and returns clean JSON, CSV or Excel: company number, name, status, type, incorporation date, registered office address, postcode, SIC codes with descriptions and the Companies House URL. Search by company name words, SIC code (industry), town or postcode, status, company type and incorporation date (for example every company incorporated in the last 7 days), or look up company numbers. Turn on details for accounts and confirmation statement due dates, overdue flags, "proposal to strike off" notes and previous names.

Use it as a UK company data source for lead generation and research, or as an unofficial Companies House search API with no API key, no browser and no login, for $0.25 per 1,000 companies with no start fee. Companies House exports at most 5,000 companies per search; deep search splits bigger searches by incorporation date and merges them without duplicates. In testing it returned all 82,142 active companies with "consulting" in the name in 80 seconds, and all 14,875 companies incorporated in the last 7 days in 16 seconds.

Company-level data only. This actor does not collect officers, directors, secretaries or persons with significant control (PSC). See Personal data.

Use cases

  • New company leads: accountants, banks, insurers, web designers and suppliers get every company incorporated yesterday or this week, filtered by SIC code and area.
  • B2B prospect lists by industry and town: all active software companies (SIC 62012) in Leeds, all bakeries in Scotland, all LLPs in EC2A.
  • Insolvency and distress leads: companies in liquidation, administration or with "proposal to strike off", plus overdue accounts and confirmation statements (with details).
  • Market sizing: count companies per SIC code, region or incorporation year straight from the register.
  • KYC, supplier checks and CRM enrichment: look up company numbers to add status, registered address and SIC codes to your records.
  • AI agents: "find active UK software companies incorporated this month in Leeds" maps straight onto the input fields.

Pricing

$0.25 per 1,000 companies (pay per result; one result = one company saved). No start fee, and details (accounts and confirmation statement dates, previous names) cost nothing extra. Duplicates, searches with no results, company numbers that do not exist and failed requests are never charged.

You scrapeYou pay
100 companies$0.025
1,000 companies$0.25
10,000 companies$2.50
100,000 companies$25.00

The Apify free plan's $5 monthly credit covers about 20,000 companies. Every company incorporated in the UK on one day (about 2,500-3,000) is about $0.70. The prefilled input (bakery, 20 companies) costs $0.005 and took 5 seconds in a cloud test. If you set a maximum cost per run, the scraper stops cleanly when it reaches it.

Why this one

  • Cheaper than every Companies House scraper with more than 2 users: scrapesage $4.00 per 1,000 + $2.00 per 1,000 officers, pradio $3.20 per 1,000 profiles, logiover $1.50 + start, silentflow $1.50 + start, lexis-solutions $11.00 + start. Smaller ones: parsebird $1.40 + start, ryanclinton $2.00 + start, api-co $0.75, scrapersdelight $0.30 (new companies only). Here it is $0.25 with details included and no start fee. A few actors with 1-2 users charge less (fetch_cat $0.044 + $0.005 per run, j0401 $0.05) and some are free.
  • Past the 5,000 cap: deep search splits by incorporation date, so whole industries (124,751 software companies) come back in one run.
  • No API key, no rate-limit setup: the official API needs a key and also stops at 5,000 search results.
  • SIC descriptions and postcodes in every row, ready for CSV, Excel or a CRM.
  • No personal data: company-level records only, no directors or PSC.

FAQ

Is there an official Companies House API? Yes, Companies House has a free REST API that needs an API key and has rate limits; its advanced search also stops at 5,000 results. This actor needs no key, goes past the 5,000 limit with deep search and returns ready-to-use rows (with SIC descriptions and postcodes) you can export to CSV or Excel.

How much does a typical job cost? $0.25 per 1,000 companies, nothing per run. A daily feed of every new UK company (about 2,500-3,000 a day) is about $0.70 a day or $21 a month; one SIC code in one city (a few hundred companies) is under $0.10; looking up 500 company numbers for a CRM is about $0.13.

How do I get newly incorporated companies every day? Schedule the actor daily with incorporatedInLastDays: 1 (add sicCodes or locations to target an industry or area) and deduplicate on companyNumber.

Does it get directors or shareholders? No, by design. Only company-level data is collected.

Can I get dissolved or insolvent companies? Yes: set status to ["dissolved"], or ["liquidation", "administration", "receivership"]. Empty status = every status.

Does robots.txt allow this? The service at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk publishes no robots.txt restrictions (it answers 404). The actor uses the same public search pages and CSV export a visitor uses, spaces requests politely and reads company overview pages only.

Something is wrong or a field is missing. Open an issue on the Issues tab of the actor page with the run ID. It reaches the developer directly.

How to use

  1. Fill one or more search fields: Company name contains (bakery, consulting), SIC codes (10710, 62012), Registered office address contains (Manchester, LS1, EC2A 4NE), and/or an incorporation date: Incorporated in the last N days, or Incorporated from / to.
  2. Narrow it with Company status (default: active), Company types (ltd, llp, plc ...) and Company subtypes (community interest companies).
  3. Set Max companies (0 = everything the searches match) and switch on Include company profile details if you want accounts and confirmation statement dates and previous names.
  4. Click Start. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML from the Output tab, or pull them through the Apify API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an MCP client.

Already know the companies? Put company numbers (00445790, SC548639) or Companies House URLs (company pages, advanced search result links, company search links) into the "Look up known companies" section.

API example

Python (pip install apify-client):

from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("rel8ble/companies-house-scraper").call(run_input={
"sicCodes": ["62012"],
"incorporatedInLastDays": 7,
"maxResults": 500,
})
for c in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(c["companyNumber"], "|", c["companyName"], "|", c["incorporationDate"], "|", c["postalCode"])

One HTTP call that runs the actor and returns the rows (curl):

curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/rel8ble~companies-house-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"incorporatedInLastDays": 1, "maxResults": 200}'

Integrations

  • Apify API: run the actor and fetch results over REST, or with the official Python and JavaScript / Node.js clients.
  • MCP for AI agents: through the Apify MCP server (https://mcp.apify.com), Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other agents can call this Companies House search directly. Every input field is described for agents ("find active UK software companies incorporated this month in Leeds" maps straight onto the input).
  • Make, Zapier and n8n: send new companies to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce, Google Sheets, Airtable or Slack.
  • Schedules and webhooks: run daily with incorporatedInLastDays: 1 and deduplicate on companyNumber to get only the new ones.

Limits (read before large runs)

  • 5,000 companies per single search is Companies House's own export limit. Deep search goes past it by searching narrower incorporation-date ranges; in testing it reached 100% of the register's count in all three large searches tried (14,875, 82,142 and 124,751 companies). Companies with no incorporation date on file (a few registered societies) can be missed by a split search. RUN_SUMMARY shows the register's count, what was saved and the coverage percent for every search.
  • One SIC code per search. Companies House filters one SIC code at a time, so several codes run as several searches and are merged without duplicates.
  • Address search is the register's own: it matches the full registered office address, including the county and second address line, which the search export leaves out. So a "Manchester" search also returns, for example, Altrincham companies in Greater Manchester.
  • Search address format: without details, registeredOfficeAddress is the export's one-line, space-separated form (street, town, country, postcode); details give the full comma-separated address.
  • Registered office, not trading address: many small companies use their accountant's or a formation agent's address.
  • No phone numbers, e-mails or websites: Companies House does not publish them.
  • Speed: search data comes in up to 5,000 companies per request (about 1,000 companies a second). Details add one page per company, about 3-4 companies a second, because requests are spaced politely (at most 4 a second) on a public service.
  • maxResults counts across all searches in the run; company numbers given directly are always looked up and do not use it up.

Personal data

This actor collects company-level data only: the company's name, number, status, type, dates, registered office address and SIC codes, as published on the public register. It does not collect officers, directors, secretaries, persons with significant control, their names, dates of birth or addresses, and it never opens those pages. Some very small companies are named after their owner or use a home address as the registered office; that is how the company is registered. If you contact UK companies, you are responsible for following UK GDPR and PECR (for example on marketing e-mails and calls).
