MSN Finance Detail Scraper
Unofficial wrapper around MSN's own public finance API for full single-instrument detail data. No login or API key needed.
Unofficial wrapper around MSN's own public finance/money API. Returns full single-instrument detail as structured JSON — no scraping, no HTML parsing, no login required.
What does MSN Finance Detail Scraper do?
Given one or more MSN instrument ids, returns each instrument's full detail payload: price and exchange info plus MSN's own related gainers, losers, and indices for that instrument. Richer than a plain quote — this is the same data MSN's own detail page shows.
Why use MSN Finance Detail Scraper?
- One call, full context — price, exchange detail, and related market movers come back together, not split across several calls
- Works for any market MSN tracks — stocks, indices, bonds, crypto, commodities
- No account needed — every call works fully anonymously
Use cases: single-instrument research pages, market-context widgets, related-securities discovery.
How to use MSN Finance Detail Scraper
- Open the Actor's Input tab.
- Fill in
instrumentIds(one or more) and optionallymarket. - Run the Actor. Each instrument becomes one row in the dataset.
Input
| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
instrumentIds | array of strings | Yes | MSN's own opaque instrument ids — not plain ticker symbols like AAPL. For example, a33k6h is the S&P 500 Index. Get real ids from a prior quote/detail response (most responses include related instrument ids for similar securities) or from MSN's own site. |
market | string | No | MSN locale code, e.g. en-us, en-gb, id-id, de-de, ja-jp. Default en-us. |
Output
One dataset row per requested instrument id, each the full detail object MSN itself returns: quote fields, exchange detail, and related gainers/losers/indices for that instrument.
Pricing
Pay-per-result, billed per instrument detail returned. See the Actor's Pricing tab for current rates.
Known limitations
- Instrument ids are opaque and not guessable from a ticker symbol. There is no symbol-to-id lookup endpoint wrapped here — ids must come from a prior response or from browsing MSN's own site.
- No chart/historical price data. MSN's own chart data for this endpoint only works inside a real logged-in browser session and isn't available through a stateless API call — not wrapped here.
- This is an unofficial, reverse-engineered integration, not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation. Behavior may change if MSN changes its API.
