Currency Exchange Rates API (central banks, latest + historical)

Get official reference exchange rates as clean JSON rows: the latest rates, one past day, or a whole date range. No API key, no setup.

What you get

One row per date and target currency, with fields: date, base, target, rate, inverseRate and source.

Example row: date 2026-10-19, base USD, target EUR, rate 0.89087, inverseRate 1.12249823.

Input

  • base: currency to convert from (ISO code, e.g. USD).
  • targets: list of ISO codes to convert to. Empty = every available currency.
  • startDate: optional, YYYY-MM-DD. Empty = latest rates.
  • endDate: optional. With startDate returns one row per working day and target (max 366 days).

Good for

  • AI agents and automations that need a trusted rate mid-task (call it from the Apify API or MCP).
  • Spreadsheets and reports that need historical rates for invoices, bookkeeping or analytics.
  • Scheduled runs (daily) that feed a database or webhook.

Notes

  • Rates are reference rates published by central banks (originally the European Central Bank), updated on working days. They are not live trading quotes and not financial advice.
  • Data comes from the free Frankfurter API (frankfurter.dev). Its blended rates are free for commercial use per its site.
  • Unknown currency codes or missing dates return a clear error message instead of empty data.

Pricing

Pay per result (one row = one result). See the pricing box on this page.
