Why most TruePeopleSearch scrapers fail

TruePeopleSearch only serves visitors in the United States, and it sits behind Cloudflare. A request from outside the US is dropped before the page loads, and plain HTTP clients stall on JavaScript challenges and fingerprint checks. This actor fetches every page through the Scrape.do web scraping API with a US residential IP, so you don't manage proxies, headers or browsers.

Once a profile loads, the actor reads the structured data block (JSON-LD) the site publishes for search engines. It holds every phone and email on the profile, aliases and the full relatives list, so you get more than the visible page shows.

How to use it

1. Search by name: add one or more names under Names to search and, optionally, a city, state or ZIP code under Location. Every person on the result pages is scraped.
2. Reverse phone lookup: add US numbers under Phone numbers, in any format.
3. Address lookup: add addresses under Street addresses as street, city, state, for example 123 Main St, Dallas, TX.
4. URLs: paste profile URLs (/find/person/...) or search result URLs copied from the site under TruePeopleSearch URLs.

You can mix all four in one run. A person found by two searches is saved once.

Pricing and your Scrape.do token

There is no per-result fee for this actor; Apify only bills its normal platform usage, which is a fraction of a cent for a typical run. Pages are fetched through the Scrape.do web scraping API:

1. Free trial, no token – leave the Scrape.do API token field empty and you get up to 10 profiles per run. Good for checking the data before you sign up.
2. Your own Scrape.do token – no profile limit. Requests use your Scrape.do credits: every page (one profile, or one search results page) goes through a US residential IP, which is about 10 credits. Create a free Scrape.do account to get a token.

Tips

• Narrow name searches with a city or state. Common names return many result pages; Result pages per search caps how many are read.
• Speed: raise Parallel requests if your Scrape.do plan allows more concurrency.
• Blocked pages are retried automatically with a new IP. If a profile still fails, it is listed in the log and the run continues.

FAQ

Is scraping TruePeopleSearch legal? The actor collects data the site shows publicly, but it is personal data about real people. TruePeopleSearch is not a consumer reporting agency, so this data must not be used for decisions about employment, tenant screening, credit or insurance, which the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regulates in the US. You are responsible for using it in line with the site's terms and the privacy laws that apply to you (for example CCPA and GDPR), and for honoring opt-out requests. This is not legal advice.
