Every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for a vehicle, keyless, with crash, fire, injury and death flags and the full narrative. Roll them up by component and see which failures owners keep reporting that no recall covers. Deduped properly, so counts are real.
Complaints returns one row per owner complaint with the full narrative. Component trends rolls them up per failing part and flags the ones no recall covers.
Model name, for example Explorer or F-150. NHTSA stores some models only as body-style entries such as "F-150 SUPER CREW", and rejects the plain name outright. Type the plain name: the variants are found and merged for you, with duplicates removed.
Earliest model year. Set this alone to do a single year.
Latest model year. Leave empty to use the same year as above. Up to 60 years per run.
Severity comes from what the owner reported: a death, an injury, a fire, or a crash. Most complaints report none of these, which is a real finding rather than missing data.
Filter to specific failing parts as NHTSA names them, for example POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS. Leave empty for all of them.
[]Earliest date the failure happened, as YYYY-MM-DD. Filters run on the incident date, not the filing date: owners often report months or years late, so filing dates would put old failures in recent buckets.
Fetch recalls for the same vehicle and mark whether any covers each complaint's component. Turning this off leaves the recall fields empty rather than false, so absence stays distinct from a real no.

Remember complaints already returned and emit only ones filed since. Run it weekly on the models you care about. Quiet runs cost nothing.
