What it does

The actor reads Norway's central register of business entities (Enhetsregisteret / Foretaksregisteret, published as open data by the Brønnøysund Register Centre, "Brreg"). It applies the filters you pass, paginates through the matches, and writes one normalized record per company to the run's dataset. You can:

• Search by company name (or part of it) with optional filters for municipality, NACE industry code, legal form, postal code, institutional sector, employee range, VAT status, founding date and registration date.
• Look up one company directly by its 9-digit organisation number.
• Bulk-lookup a list of organisation numbers in a single run (KYB batch enrichment) via the orgNumbers field.

When withDetails is on, the actor fetches the full leadership of each company (board members, chair, CEO / daglig leder and auditor) and fills ceo, chair and the officers array. When withFinancials is on, it fetches each company's filed annual accounts (revenue, operating result, profit, assets, equity, liabilities) into financials plus the multi-year annualAccounts history. Missing source values are returned as null, never invented.

Billing and limits

• Officers add-on. When withDetails is on, a details charge applies per company whose officers were successfully fetched. Turn withDetails off to pay the base result price only.
• Financials add-on. When withFinancials is on, a financials charge applies only for companies that actually have filed annual accounts attached. Turn withFinancials off to skip it.
• No charge on failure. Partial-fetch problems are reported in the error field on the record; empty runs cost nothing. Add-ons are charged only after the record is delivered and only on genuine success.
• Spend cap respected. Set maxTotalChargeUsd on the run; once reached, the actor stops emitting and charging further billable results.
• Free Apify plans are capped at 10 records per run. Upgrade for higher maxCompanies.
• Source ceiling. The register caps a single search at 10000 results. For larger pulls, split the work with narrower filters or date ranges.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Do I need an API key or login for Brreg? No. The Norwegian company register (Brønnøysundregistrene) is public open data. This actor needs no API key, no login and no captcha solving.

Can I look up a company by organisation number? Yes. Set query to a 9-digit organisation number, for example 923609016, to return that single company. For many at once, pass a list to orgNumbers.

A run returned 0 records. Why? The name or filter combination matched nothing in the register. Loosen filters (remove municipality, industryCode or the employee range), or confirm the name spelling. Zero-result runs are not charged.

Why are ceo, chair and officers empty? withDetails was off. Turn it on to fetch the board, chair, CEO and auditor for each company.

Why is financials null? Either withFinancials was off, or the company has not filed annual accounts (common for new, dormant or very small entities). Missing source values are returned as null, never invented.

Can I filter by industry, size or location? Yes. Use industryCode (NACE), municipality (4-digit number), postalCode, sectorCode, employeesFrom / employeesTo and vatStatus. Filters combine with logical AND.

How current is the data? It reflects the register at run time, so newly registered companies, status changes and freshly filed accounts appear as soon as the register publishes them.

Is this an official Brønnøysund tool? No. This actor is independent and has no affiliation with the Brønnøysund Register Centre. It reads only data that the register publishes as open data.
