Collects DuckDuckGo bang-command entries from the public bang.js directory. This Actor reads the directory; it does not submit a search query or visit the bang target sites.

Input

FieldDescriptionDefault
categoriesOptional list of categories to keep. An empty list includes all categories.[]
maxCommandsMaximum number of commands to store; allowed range is 1–99,999.50
proxyConfigurationOptional Apify Proxy configuration.—

Example:

{
"categories": [],
"maxCommands": 100
}

Dataset

Each row describes one bang command and may contain trigger, siteName, domain, url (the URL template), category, subcategory, rank, and scrapedAt. Category filters are applied before the maximum-row limit.

Availability

The Actor depends on DuckDuckGo's public bang directory being reachable. If the directory is blocked or unavailable, the run reports the request failure; it does not substitute another source.

Run summary

The OUTPUT key-value record reports source, valid, invalid, duplicate, matching, and actually saved record counts, plus request attempts and the configured network route. A valid directory with no entries matching an explicit category filter is labeled no_matches; an empty, malformed, blocked, or wholly invalid source fails. The directory is a single complete JSON resource, so no pagination is needed. The maximum applies after validation, deduplication, and category filtering.

Transient HTTP errors are retried at most twice, with bounded delays. Access restrictions are reported without changing the requested route.
