Use cases

  • Price monitoring - schedule daily runs to track price changes and weekly specials on the products you care about
  • Grocery price comparison - pair with the Woolworths Scraper to compare the two big Australian supermarkets side by side
  • Specials and catalogue tracking - scrape the whole on-special page or a category every week
  • Product data enrichment - barcodes, ingredients, allergens and nutrition panels for food apps and retail analytics
  • Market research - brand share, price positioning and unit-price analysis across a category

How to use

  1. Enter one or more Search terms (e.g. milk, coffee beans), and/or paste Coles URLs: category pages (https://www.coles.com.au/browse/dairy-eggs-fridge), the specials page (https://www.coles.com.au/on-special), search pages or individual product pages.
  2. Optionally set Sort by, tick Specials only or In stock only, and turn on Include product details for barcodes and nutrition.
  3. Set Max products per search / URL (default 100; 0 fetches every matching product).
  4. Leave the Proxy configuration on the default Australian residential proxy - Coles only serves Australian traffic reliably.
  5. Run the actor. Results appear in the Dataset tab.

Tip: to scrape every Coles special in one go, tick Specials only and leave search terms empty.

FAQ

Are prices store-specific? Prices are Coles' standard online prices for the default delivery region. Coles does not publish per-store pricing publicly.

Does it include half-price and multibuy specials? Yes - onSale, isHalfPrice, savings, promotionLabel and the multibuy fields are populated for every product, and the specials page URL returns the full weekly specials list.

Why is gtin empty? Barcodes, ingredients and nutrition live on the product page. Turn on Include product details to fetch them (one extra request per product).

Why do I need a proxy? Coles blocks most non-Australian and datacenter traffic. The default Apify residential proxy in Australia is the reliable option and is what the actor is tested against.

What about Woolworths? See the companion Woolworths Scraper for the same output format on woolworths.com.au.
