Use cases
- Subtitles and accessibility: get SRT/VTT caption files for Facebook videos in one click
- Content repurposing: turn Facebook videos and reels into blog posts, newsletters, threads and show notes
- Competitor and brand monitoring: transcribe a page's newest reels on a schedule and search what they say
- Market and trend research: pull the claims, products and talking points from video content in a niche
- Translation and localisation prep: timestamped segments are ready for translation workflows
How to use
- Paste Video or reel URLs:
facebook.com/reel/...,facebook.com/watch/?v=...,facebook.com/PAGE/videos/...,facebook.com/share/v/...,facebook.com/share/r/...orfb.watch/...links all work. - And/or add Page or profile URLs (or just the page name, like
natgeo) and set Max videos per page. The newest reels are transcribed first. - Optional settings:
- Transcript source: Auto uses the video's own Facebook captions when they exist and transcribes the audio otherwise. Always transcribe audio skips Facebook captions.
- Language: leave on
auto, or set a 2-letter code (en,es,pt...) if you know the spoken language. - Max video length (minutes): skip very long videos.
- Include timestamped segments: untick it if you only need the plain transcript and subtitle files.
- Run the actor. One row per video appears in the Dataset tab. Switch to the Subtitles view to see the SRT and VTT for each video.

To save a subtitle file, copy the srt (or vtt) value into a text file named video.srt (or video.vtt). Every major video player and editor reads it.
Pricing
You pay per result, and the actor stops charging the moment a video can't be transcribed:
- Video processed: a small fee for each video whose media was fetched and checked for speech, including music-only videos that turn out to have no speech.
- Transcript: one charge per video that produced a transcript, which includes the first minute of audio.
- Transcript minute: each additional started minute of a transcribed video.
Private, deleted, non-video and over-length posts are listed in the dataset with their status and are never charged.
FAQ
Do I need a Facebook account or cookies? No. Only public videos and reels are supported.
Which videos work? Public reels, page and profile videos, and Watch videos. Private videos, videos in private groups and videos only visible when logged in come back as not_found.
What happens with music-only videos? They are listed as no_speech with an empty transcript. Song lyrics may be transcribed if the singing is clear.
How accurate are the timestamps? Subtitle timing is typically within a fraction of a second. If a backup engine had to be used, the row has timestampsApproximate: true.
Which languages are supported? Speech in all major languages is detected automatically. Set Language if you already know it.
How long can videos be? There is no fixed limit; long videos are processed in parts and stitched back together. Use Max video length to skip anything too long.
Is there a free trial? Free Apify plans can transcribe up to 5 videos per run (the first 3 minutes of each, 2 runs per day, 60 minutes apart) so you can test the output. Upgrade to a paid plan to remove these limits.
