Why does the keyword field already contain software engineer?

That is the Actor's default search. It gives a new user a working run without any setup. Clear the field if you want to browse by location or work model alone, or provide a startUrl.

Does the Actor support sorting?

PowerToFly returns the newest matching jobs first. An explicit date sort can push unrelated jobs into keyword results, so the Actor keeps the default order. There is no sort input.
