Cleared Hiring Signals
Cleared Hiring Signals is an Apify Actor that watches public defense-tech career boards and returns only the jobs that explicitly require a security clearance. Run it on a schedule with delta mode on, and you get a daily feed of new and changed cleared roles instead of the same postings every morning.
Free Apify plans get up to 10 records per run with every feature turned on. Paid Apify plans get the full requested result set, up to 1,000 records.
What it does
- Reads the public Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby job board APIs for each company. No login, no browser, no proxy.
- Checks each job's title and description for clearance language (clearance, TS/SCI, top secret, public trust).
- Keeps jobs where that language is a requirement (for example "required", "must", "currently hold").
- Optionally keeps jobs that ask for the ability or eligibility to obtain a clearance.
- In delta mode, remembers what it saw last run and returns only jobs that are new or changed.
Who it is for
- Recruiters and staffing firms who place cleared candidates and want to know which defense-tech companies opened cleared roles this week.
- Sales and business development teams selling to defense-tech companies, using cleared hiring as a growth signal.
- Analysts tracking hiring at defense-tech startups.
Default company roster
If you leave companies empty, the Actor checks this preset:
| Company | Board |
|---|---|
| Palantir | Lever |
| Scale AI | Greenhouse |
| Helsing | Greenhouse |
| Chaos Industries | Greenhouse |
| Epirus | Greenhouse |
| Vannevar Labs | Greenhouse |
| HawkEye 360 | Greenhouse |
| Vatn Systems | Greenhouse |
| Saronic | Ashby |
You can replace it with your own list of Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby boards.
Input
| Field | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
companies | array | preset above | Boards to check. Each entry is { "ats": "greenhouse", "slug": "epirus", "name": "Epirus" }. ats is greenhouse, lever or ashby. |
maxResults | integer | 100 | Most records to return, up to 1,000. Free plans get up to 10. |
deltaMode | boolean | true | Return only jobs that are new or changed since the last run. |
includeAbleToObtain | boolean | false | Also return jobs that ask for the ability to obtain a clearance. |
Example:
{"companies": [{ "ats": "greenhouse", "slug": "epirus", "name": "Epirus" },{ "ats": "ashby", "slug": "saronic", "name": "Saronic" }],"maxResults": 200,"deltaMode": true,"includeAbleToObtain": false}
The slug is the last part of the company's careers URL: boards.greenhouse.io/epirus, jobs.lever.co/palantir, jobs.ashbyhq.com/saronic.
Output
One record per job:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
id | ats:slug:jobId, stable across runs |
ats | greenhouse, lever or ashby |
company | { slug, name } |
title | Job title |
locations | List of locations from the board |
department | Department or team, when the board gives one |
posted_at | Board timestamp (Greenhouse gives its last-updated time) |
url | Link to the posting |
clearance_tier | hard (clearance required) or able_to_obtain |
delta_status | new, updated or unchanged |
scraped_at | When this run read the job |
Each run also writes a RUN_SUMMARY record to the key-value store with companies checked, records delivered, per-company failures, how many unchanged jobs delta mode skipped, and whether the free-plan cap applied.
How delta mode works
The Actor saves a fingerprint of each matching job (title, description and timestamp) in a named key-value store, cleared-hiring-signals-delta-state, so it survives between runs, including scheduled ones. On the next run it compares, skips jobs that have not changed, and marks the rest new or updated. Each saved Task keeps its own history, so use one Task per company list.
Pricing
Pay per event: $0.004 per cleared job record delivered, plus Apify's $0.00005 actor start. Jobs skipped by delta mode and jobs that do not match the clearance filter are not delivered and not charged. Use maxResults or a maximum run cost to cap spend.
Limits
- The clearance check reads text. It finds jobs that say a clearance is required; it does not know about clearance needs that a posting does not mention.
- Only Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby boards are supported. Workday and other systems are not.
- If one company's board fails, the others still run, and the failure is listed in
RUN_SUMMARY.
Use it from the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent
Run it from the Apify API or the apify-client package for Python or JavaScript, connect it with Apify's Make, Zapier or n8n integrations, or call shipsatnight/cleared-hiring-signals from an AI agent through the Apify MCP server at mcp.apify.com.
FAQ
Which jobs count as cleared?
Jobs whose title or description mentions a clearance, TS/SCI, top secret or public trust, together with requirement words like "required" or "must". Turn on includeAbleToObtain to add jobs that ask for the ability to obtain one.
Can I add my own companies?
Yes. Pass any Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby boards in companies. That replaces the preset.
How do I get only new cleared jobs each day?
Keep deltaMode on and run the Actor on an Apify Schedule.
Does it scrape ClearanceJobs or LinkedIn? No. It reads employers' own public job boards.
