GovCon Opportunity Monitor
GovCon Opportunity Monitor is an Apify Actor that sends you new and updated federal contract opportunities from SAM.gov, with contracting officer contacts, the full solicitation text, NAICS and PSC codes, set-aside, place of performance and award data. Set your NAICS codes, notice types, set-asides, agency and keywords once, schedule it, and each run returns only the notices that are new or changed since the last run.
Free Apify plans get up to 10 change records per run with every feature turned on. Paid Apify plans get the full requested result set, up to 1,000 records. The cap is shown in RUN_SUMMARY and the run status message.
What it does
- Searches SAM.gov's public opportunity search. No SAM.gov account or API key.
- Filters by keywords, NAICS codes, notice type codes, set-aside codes, agency name and how many days back to look.
- Sorts by most recently modified.
- For each new or changed notice, reads SAM.gov's public notice detail record to add contacts, full description, PSC, set-aside, place of performance and award data. Unchanged notices skip this step.
- Drops a notice if its detail record cannot be read, so you never get or pay for a half-empty row. It comes back on the next run.
- In delta mode, remembers each notice's fingerprint (title, modified date, response date and notice type) and returns only new or changed notices.
Who it is for
- Small businesses and contractors who want a daily list of new solicitations and sources sought in their NAICS codes.
- Capture and business development teams tracking changes to opportunities they already follow, such as a new response deadline.
- Researchers watching set-aside activity in a market.

A field is null when SAM.gov does not publish it for that notice. For example, award fields are only filled on award notices, and some notices have no PSC code or place of performance.
Each run writes RUN_SUMMARY to the key-value store: requested and delivered counts, whether delta mode was on, unchanged notices skipped, notices removed by the agency filter, detail records that could not be read, whether the run stopped at its charge limit, and whether the free-plan cap applied.
How delta mode works
Notice fingerprints are saved in a named key-value store, govcon-opportunity-monitor-delta-state, so they survive between runs, including scheduled ones. A notice comes back as updated when its title, modified date, response deadline or notice type changes. Each saved Actor Task keeps its own history, so use one Task per saved search (for example one per NAICS group).
Scheduling
Create a Task with your filters, then add an Apify Schedule (for example every weekday at 7 AM). Send results to email, Slack, Google Sheets or a webhook with Apify integrations.
Pricing
Pay per event: $0.002 per new or updated opportunity delivered, plus Apify's $0.00005 actor start. Unchanged notices skipped by delta mode, notices removed by the agency filter, and notices dropped because their detail record could not be read are not charged. Set a maximum run cost and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.
Use it from the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent
Use the Apify API or apify-client, Apify's Make, Zapier or n8n integrations, or call shipsatnight/govcon-opportunity-change-monitor from an AI agent through the Apify MCP server at mcp.apify.com.
FAQ
Do I need a SAM.gov API key? No. It reads the same public search that the SAM.gov website uses.
How do I get alerts for only new opportunities?
Keep deltaMode on and run the Actor on a Schedule.
What notice type codes can I use?
SAM.gov's codes, for example o solicitation, p presolicitation, k combined synopsis/solicitation, r sources sought, s special notice, a award.
Why did a notice come back as updated? Its title, modified date, response deadline or notice type changed since your last run.
Does it include the contracting officer's email?
Yes, wherever SAM.gov publishes it, in primary_contact_email and in contacts.
How is this different from the SAM.gov Contracts Actor? Both return the same detail fields. The SAM.gov Contracts Actor adds more filters (PSC, place of performance state, active only) and pages through large result sets. This monitor is built for one saved search on a schedule.
