How to scrape Nettiauto data

Every run writes a RUN_REPORT record to its default key-value store: the input, the total Nettiauto reported, pages read, listings saved, why the crawl stopped (maxResults, exhausted, site-page-limit, blocked, filters-failed, empty, structure-changed), whether it is complete, and with fetchDetails the count of detail pages read, gone, refused and failed. A run that saves nothing fails with a message naming the step, except when Nettiauto itself reports zero listings.

Cost estimate

This actor charges $0.02 per run (start fee, based on its 4 GB memory allocation) plus $0.002 per result. 50 listings costs about $0.12; 500 about $1.02; 1,500 about $3.02. The same price applies with fetchDetails; the run just takes longer, about 2 seconds of page load per listing, 6 at a time. Residential proxy cost is absorbed into that per-result price, not billed separately. A run's usage cost only settles after it reports SUCCEEDED.

Tips

• Two-word makes work in a search query. "land rover defender" and "alfa romeo giulia" are read as make Land Rover or Alfa Romeo plus the model.
• Use Make + Model for precise results. Setting the make field (and optionally model) uses Nettiauto's structured URL paths (e.g., /volkswagen/golf), which return cleaner and more relevant results than free-text search.
• Start with a small maxResults. Test with 10--20 results first to verify the output matches your expectations before running larger scrapes.
• Finnish fuel types. Nettiauto uses Finnish terms: Bensiini = gasoline, Sahko = electric, Hybridi = hybrid, Kaasu = natural gas.
• Filters are applied by Nettiauto itself. Year, price and fuel filters go through the same saved-search mechanism as the site's own search form, so the results match what you would see on nettiauto.com with those filters set.
• Finnish proxy IPs are the default. If the configured proxy is refused, the scraper retries on a new exit and then on a direct connection.

Nettiauto shows at most 50 result pages (about 1,600 listings) for any one search, and the run stops there with stopReason: site-page-limit in its RUN_REPORT. To cover a whole make, run one search per model, or per year or price band.

Does this scraper require a Nettiauto account? No. All data is scraped from publicly available search results. No login, cookies, or account is needed.

Can I filter by city or region? Not yet. The scraper filters by make, model, year, price and fuel type. A search query like "volkswagen helsinki" is read as make Volkswagen and model Helsinki, which does not exist, so the run fails with a message saying so.

How often can I run this scraper? As often as you need. Set up a scheduled run (daily, weekly) to track price changes and new listings over time.

What if the scraper returns zero results? If Nettiauto itself reports no listings for your make, model and filters, the run succeeds with 0 results and a status message saying so.
